Tried to buy a ticket online before our visit to Barcelona but in order to purchase a ticket you have to sign up for an account and give them your passport information. No way am I exposing this information online in a foreign country. In all my years of traveling, I have never experienced this when buying any ticket online. No problem, if they require ID to enter this venue, a hotel, etc., while in person. But to do it online without knowing who is in charge of securing your information. Their own information mentions how when you sign up for an account to buy a ticket, you have to choose for them not to share your information. Do they honor this? Often, IDs are stolen not by the first business they come in contact with, but the others they share marketing information with!! Remember, this opera house is in business of sharing information, but they don't supervise, nor are responsible for whatt their marketing partners do and we have no knowledge who they are. What makes matters worse, is that the attack on your ID doesn't always happen very quickly after, but can take weeks, months so as to mask/hide as much as possible the culprit. So you may think it's someone else you made contact...
Read moreI aimed to maximize my experience during my visit to Barcelona and chose to attend the Tosca performance at the Gran Teatre de Liceu in the evening. I purchased tickets just two hours before the show, being mindful of my budget since opera is not particularly my preference. However, I was eager to enjoy the ambiance of a live theater performance. Initially, I was presented with seats that offered no view of the stage, which I thought might be acceptable given the emphasis on singing in opera. However, I soon realized that this arrangement would likely detract from my enjoyment, so I opted for seats with a partial view instead. I discovered that it can be quite difficult to appreciate a performance when you are unfamiliar with the storyline, struggling to see the action on stage, and attending after a long day of sightseeing. Therefore, my recommendation is to invest in tickets that provide a full view of the stage; while they may be slightly more expensive, the experience will undoubtedly be more rewarding. Overall not a bad way to spend and evening and also a nice piece of local culture to have experienced. Look out for their up coming shows and if you have a...
Read moreLiceu this is a wonderful, breathtaking theatre. I could stare on the ceiling for hours. First of all, it is an entire building. So you sit there and look up. I have never seen something similar in my life. Majestic.
I could smell a lot of PR in the room. Yes, I mean I could get lost there. Reality seems different inside Liceu. You become more important. You feel like you deserve better. You are a prestigious guest here. And so, I think I could smell too much eliteness.
I went there with a group to watch a dance performance. And it cost very little. Individual tickets cost a lot, I know. But the feeling you get is unique. Smelly Barcelona and the unattractive men who blow bubbles are left outside. You are immersed into a performance or a show or an opera event. I went to see a dance, accompanied by live music. Oh, what pleasure it was to be hearing live classical music. I almost fainted with joy. I had a joygasm.
I would recommend anyone who is a lover of entertainment and culture to visit Liceu. Ask at the reception for the programme and special...
