Monopol — Restaurant in Barcelona

Came here again with Tottenham an absolute hole don't go avoid will never forgot the lies in front of my children appalling and not a place for tourists and if locals go beware very small man with beard probably owner will try to con you and not cook food properly. Poisonous cold chicken is acceptable according to the owner of this place. It is ok for Spanish people to eat this so why cannot anyone else. Also charged for water that said it was free with a meal. Despite saying that pink and cold chicken can poison people he said it was ok. The owner had to cook it again when taken to the kitchen to show it was pink and cold. He said ok but refused to take it off the bill after it being re cooked. I thought he would lie his response shows this. He also pretended he could not understand English whrn there was a complaint but can read this and reply ok. What a liar. Just added photo with the flea bite result from your premises. I visited the place with my friend and we sat at this table next to the colorful pretty doors. We thought they were rooms for storage, and then we realized they were the toilets which happened to be literally 1 step away from our table. Every time someone was visiting it, the smell was too bad. Very unhygienic setup of the table. I took the "menu package" and my friend wanted to take separate things out of the "menu package". They told us we both had to take "menu package", which allows only certain things/combinations. So, my friend couldn't get what he wanted, unless I would quit my "menu package" choice. The service was too slow, stressed, brought us the wrong order a couple of times. The dishes were okay, yet not something special. Not a very good value for money.

Take-home message: I have visited some great places in the Rambla of Poblenou, with great atmosphere, great food, and service. I personally wouldn't come back to this one. You can try it, but please lower a lot your expectations if you don't want to get...

Decent decor and food but the manager was SO RUDE and inflexible. I've never had such hostile service. He told us our group had to split onto separate tables instead of on the one big table that was already there (I guess fair enough) but we were then forbidden, yes FORBIDDEN, to speak across the tables, or stand up from our seats. He also shushed us several times despite our talking being a very normal and respectful volume, and MADE US WHISPER to each other or he threatened to kick us out, despite us not disrupting any other customers.

There are also a lot of semi-prepared food left on random trays all over the place next to the bar, so it would be very easy for customers to knock them over or sneeze or cough on them if not careful - very unhygienic.

He also let a Catalan man and a Catalan woman cut in at the front of the long, very slow queue on two separate ocassions, despite all of us being Spanish speaking.
