I've been here twice now and the first time was fine, although the service was very slow. The food is good, nice Catalan menu, and the atmosphere is fine as well, as they have a nice terraced area, inside of a enclosed tent. The second time was horrific - on Valentine's day at that!. The restaurant was not crowded at all, but the waitresses certainly did not want to give any sort of service. When we asked for our order, the reply was 'I forgot to put your order in', the food took well over 30 minutes to arrive and even after we put in a drink order, we had to remind them again, the waitress responded this time with the same excuse 'I forgot'. For a restaurant that offers good food with a good atmosphere, the wait staff should also be representative of that level of quality. At the end of the meal, we were also supposed to receive a small 'apertif' as part of the meal, as it was included. We asked for it, but waited for about 15 minutes, we asked again, but the excuse was 'we ran out, sorry', with no offer of a substitute. There was no language barrier as our table had someone who spoke fluent Spanish, and the waitress even responded a few times in English. Why this level of service was even allowed is beyond me and so, as a result, there will be no more visits. There are plenty of restaurants in Barcelona with just as good food and atmosphere and much much better service. In this day and age, with so many options available, it would certainly be of this restaurant's best interest to train their waitress staff. I don't give bad reviews very often, but this deserves a zero...
Read moreStood at the front counter for a good 5 minutes while no one attended to us, until the more senior server came over to show us to our seats. The place is very lovely, with outdoor dining space as well as the cozy indoor.
Had the beef medallion, trotters, veal entrecote, oxtail as well as escargots. Oxtail was very tender, well seasoned and went very well with the sides. Veal was tender and cooked perfectly as well. The beef medallion was a bit tough and looked like pieces of scrap but the potatoes were delicious. Trotters had more of the bone than meat but then again, that's how trotters works.
Not too sure if we were given the anti-tourist treatment or a slight racist treatment. We clearly signalled to a young male server (was told he was designated to our table because he could speak English) that we were ready to place our orders and he acknowledged. 10 minutes later all we got was him avoiding eye contact with our table without even bothering to have the courtesy to let us know to wait for a while more. Couldn't wait any longer (stupid of us should have done this earlier) but we got the female server to...
Read moreAte at this restaurant yesterday. Some friends enjoyed their meal but on the whole the restaurant was disappointing. Had a waiter that was training, he was slow and clumsy. The man training him was snobby and rude. I ordered potatoe, eggs and spicy sausage as a starter. The sausage was 5 tiny grated pieces on a whole potatoe, very disappointing felt that their menu is decieving for what you order. For my main I ordered the hamburger which was just a burger patty on a piece of hovis bread. when I complained the man training the waiter just said this is a hamburger, uh no that is not a hamburger in any country. They should rename the meal as ham patty on a slice of toast with fries.
A friend of mine ordered their beans and sausage, beans were really just plain no butter. Expected beans in a tomatey sauce or something. Another pair ordered their 50€ 800g steak which was not really 800g and was just more fat than meat.
All in all this restaurant was a disappointment. I wouldn’t recommend it. There are nicer places to eat in barca. They also forgot our water after they recommended it...
