A Stellar Experience at Taps Barcelona!
We stumbled upon Taps Barcelona during a busy evening, and despite the crowd, we had an exceptional experience. From the moment we arrived, the owner was incredibly kind and attentive, assuring us that the wait would only be about 10 minutes. True to his word, he kept checking on us, keeping us updated on the wait time, and even offering drinks to make the time pass quicker. His attention made us feel really welcomed!
In just a few more minutes, we were greeted by the kindest waitress, Stela, who not only helped us choose from their delicious menu but made the whole experience feel even more special. She suggested some tapas and main dishes that were simply mouthwatering! Everything we tried was so flavorful and beautifully presented.
A special highlight for us was discovering that Stela originates from the same former country as we do! It was heartwarming to speak in a familiar language and share stories with her – she truly made our evening even more memorable.
The combination of excellent service, delicious food, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere made our visit to Taps Barcelona unforgettable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic and friendly dining experience in the heart...
Read moreCame here on a Thursday evening before the Magic Fountain light show and was impressed. Cocktail menu selling traditional cocktails (around €8 each if I remember correctly) which were very nice and of the standard that you would expect in a cocktail bar. Tapas menu was also impressive, with options ranging from €4-13 which is convenient if you're on a budget. I did not need to make a reservation and the place was not busy when I got there (around 7:30-8PM) but it did fill up soon after this. Food was delicious and of a good quality, especially for the price that you pay.
However some of the dishes are HUGE and should be shared (but these are not stated on the menu). In particular, these were the sausage and cheese selection and the mussels. I ordered the mussels (€8.95) just for myself and about 20 came. I did manage to eat them all but I do feel as though the average person may not be able to eat this many mussels especially when it is their 4th tapas dish.
Overall would recommend this place as a good tapas restaurant in Barcelona city centre, especially if you're...
Read moreThe food here was awful...
The grilled cheese was cold and tasted of plastic The albondigas were lukewarm, tiny (about half the size of the ones in other photos shared here) and swimming in a watery sweet tomato sauce The croquetas were ok, but definitely not homemade The bravas were decent, even though the potatoes were lazily cut (from tiny burnt slices to big undercooked chunks) and the sauces were definitely not homemade as advertised on the menu
Also, while I asked for a copa I was given one of those hilariously expensive large beers that only British tourists buy.
When we complained, the waiter (and, I'm pretty sure, manager) laughed in our faces, and then got aggressive when I told him there was nothing funny about his "restaurant".
Overall a truly bad experience that in no way matched the other reviews...
They either had a new and rubbish chef there for a try out that day, or they're just lucky that the business travellers from the hotel across the road don't...
