Pepa Bar a Vins — Restaurant in Barcelona

We walked in without a reservation (despite all the reviews stating that you really need one). Luckily, we came in early, so we got a seat. Service was relaxed and friendly without being too intrusive. The dishes were perfectly matched to the price. Portion sizes are small enough that you can sample an array of different dishes and flavors. Don't expect a quick, cheap bite here though, there's other places for that in Barcelona. However, we got high quality ingredients (melt-in-your-mouth beef carpacio), top notch wines (Fins als kullons) and a great evening in a cozy atmosphere. What a delightful find on our last night in Barcelona. The food is just amazing. We had the pork loin with watercress which melted in the mouth. Beautifully seasoned fish and chicken full of flavour after 24 hours in marinade. The salad was fresh and a great accompaniment. The wines (all natural and free of sulphites) were fresh and delicious. The tiramisu was a wonderful end as was the homemade grapefruit sorbet although the brioche with chocolate and raspberries was a little too sweet. We came here for a glass of wine before dinner. The place is very nice, they don’t have a terrace but only two small tables on the outside - we sat there. The welcoming wasn’t very warm, the two waitress, that I think are also the owners, are very have this strict attitude that is not very comfortable. Anyway, we decided to have a couple of croquettes (1,50€ each) - they were special! Especially the meat one. You could feel it was with fresh, good, and well cooked ingredients. The wine was also very good, the only thing was the service because of the attitude of the waitress the selection of the wine was a strange experience....
