PerlAzul - Tapas & Grill Barceloneta — Restaurant in Barcelona

This was honestly the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. At the entrance, a guy tries to lure people in with beautiful pictures, and from the outside it looks decent — but don’t be fooled. The food was absolutely terrible. I couldn’t eat or drink anything — the smell and taste were unbearable. I returned almost everything, except for the dessert… and even the dessert was awful. They can’t even make that properly.

The soup tasted like dirty water, and everything was extremely spicy, as if it was some random mix of Indian-style dishes. They even managed to ruin a mojito — it was just pure lime juice, completely undrinkable. We asked the waiter to fix it, but it was hopeless.

We left the restaurant disappointed and worried for our stomachs, since my husband and child had tried a bit of that horrible food. We paid 65 euros for something inedible. To make it worse, I’m quite sure they fake their ratings — so...

Food was absolutely disgusting. Ordered salad and the sliced meats and cheese were 'sweaty', like they had been sat in the fridge for weeks. We were scared to eat it. The fried seafood platter was not seasoned at all, no salt, pepper, nothing. 80+ euros for a meal for 2 people. There are some sachets of sauce on the table. That's all you get to try and make the food edible. There are scam restaurants in Barceloneta, and this is definitely one of them. Top tip, if you're walking past restaurants and they all give you the same speech (this not tourist price, this fresh food, while they read the menu to you). IT IS TOURIST PRICE, THE FOOD IS NOT FRESH, JUST RUN! I don't know what nationality the staff are but they are not Spanish. Serve your own food and do it well, or don't serve food at all. Absolutely not recommendable, I find it outrageous that something like this is even served to guests! I ordered the nachos with cheese, and what I got for €13 was just a joke – it looked like a kid had stolen nachos from a drawer and slapped toothpaste on top. The sauce didn’t taste like cheese at all, and the guacamole tasted like playdough. Cost to prepare for the restaurant: maybe €2, but sold for €13. I’m just glad I didn’t end up with diarrhea. My friends’ food wasn’t any better either – the soup tasted like it was from the day before yesterday, and the baked potatoes tasted raw.
