I recently had the pleasure of dining at La Barcaloneta with a party of three, and I must say that our experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we stepped foot in the restaurant, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere that set the stage for a delightful evening.

One of the first things we did was ask our server for their best-selling dish, and without hesitation, they recommended the black rice Paella. Intrigued, we decided to give it a try, and boy, were we in for a treat! The black rice Paella was a culinary masterpiece, bursting with flavors that danced on our taste buds. I made an online reservation in this restaurant at the beginning of the month after being advised by one of my friends who knew the place quiet well. Considering that it was my birthday I thought that having some delicious paella was the best gift I could have made for myself. On this point I was extremely satisfied! The food was exceptional from the starter to the dessert as well as the presentation of the dishes which was elegant and flawless. Furthermore, the location and the general environment were lovely and pleasant.

In terms of the negative aspects I must mention the lack of courtesy from the reception or the person who is responsible to pick up the phone. Indeed my friends wanted to make me a surprise asking the restaurant to put 2 candles on top of the dessert I was going to choose. On this purpose they made a call the day before and just an hour before our arrival in order to remind the waiters about that. As rule the person reassured them that they were going to do it without any problems. You can imagine their disappointment when the cake arrived and there was nothing above it, not to mention that my friends had to force me to take something sweet only for such a purpose. I found this carelessness outrageous.

Furthermore, I didn't like the way the service was carrying out: the waiter was continuously coming to check if we have finished eating. Now I may understand the policy that customers should not wait too long between one dish and another but what's the need to come often when you see that there is still someone eating. As a result of this pressure, my friend didn't enjoy the paella fully and she has even finished it.

Moreover, it may have been a coincidence but our table was one of the few located close to the kitchen and there was a persistent shouting of numbers. I believe there may be a better way of managing the orders and addressing the waiters without screaming in that loud way.

I had high expectations about this restaurant....but apart from the food and location there is nothing that leads me to recommend it. For the price that a person has to spend, these circumstances are anything...
