Remember when you could sit at a restaurant table for hours and eat and talk peacefully? You know... before you had kids? 😜 If you don't have kids, enjoy these moments cause once you have kids, these are over (don't worry, it's worth it, though 😉). We used to choose a restaurant based on food. Now, when we gather with friends who have kids, the primary criteria is not the food anymore, or even the price, it's "will there be enough room for the kids to move around without bothering everybody else?". 😅 Last weeks-end, we had lunch with a bunch of friends and almost as many kids and we all agreed that we needed to be on a terrace and on a square so that kids could go to the square and play. 😇 Based almost uniquely on that criteria, we chose Bar Joanet, in Ciutat Vella. At Bar Joanet, you can have a formal meal but we decided to share tapas / small plates: seafood, "huevos rotos", squid, etc. Everything was very good, especially the seafood. The service was good and I particularly appreciated the waitress who was not Catalan but still made the effort to take our order in Catalan. Kudos! 👏 I also loved that they didn't bring all the dishes at once: this allowed us d to enjoy a long moment together instead of just eating on a rush in half an hour. 👍 And I loved that my (non-alcoholic) 🍺 was super ❄️ . We didn't pay much: drinks apart, we spent €15 per adult but... I left hungry. 😓 I wonder how much we would have paid if we had all eaten enough (TBH, some of us left full... but not me). 🤔 The weather was fine, we ate well, we didn't spend too much money, the kids could play and we had a nice time amongst friends. What else could I ask for? 🤗

Read moreWe arrived at the restaurant and we had to wait for a table, but being the first in the queue we thought it would take a short time. When they got rid of the seats, they seated people who arrived there after us, because the waitresses had no idea who arrived first and who after, so we had to remind them. We asked four plates and one never came. Once we went to the cashier they told us that the requested dish was finished and for this reason it had not arrived. We asked to pay everything divided for two, repeating it three times, and it seemed she understood until the first person payed, not half of the bill like we asked 3 times but for the total. By doing some calculations looking for the menu online, because the costs of every dish aren’t written in the bill, we realized that the missing dish was counted in the final price, despite it was finished and they told us that they...
Read moreThis very authentic Catalan bar sits right in the heart of Barcelona. There are several restaurants with visiting. This restaurant Not does it only serve a good Catalan brunch (not your hipster brunch but Catalan forquilla breakfast) but it has a great mid day menu. For the mere price of 11 euros you will get good service and great food. If you are not looking to taste some great food from other regions, this traditional bar will do nicely. Had Catalan broad beans for starters and fish for main. Overall quality is very good. Food is prepared very decently, so if you are hungry and looking to eat something good come around this area, you'll find what you are looking for, if it's Mexican or Catalan food, the visit will be...
