Traveling around Barcelona and found this hidden gem near my Airbnb.
Ordered the Miso Ramen with Fried Chicken, Miso Ramen with Pork Belly and Green Curry Chicken with Rice. Did not put too much expectation as an Asian traveling in Europe for the holidays.
To my surprise, the food served at Red Ant is delicious and suitable to my liking. The Ramen noodles are well cooked where it is not too soggy or hard. The ingredients used are very generous and even though there many bamboo shoots, it did not overwhelmed the broth.
Last but not least, the Green Curry Chicken is highly recommended and should be eaten with white rice. The extra kafir leaves and coconut milk put into the dish have brought up the flavour which is delicious & authentic!
As for the service, the staff is friendly though we did not have much interaction as we can only speak in English. For the decor in the shop, maybe it is abit too dim for my liking but Red Ant is a bar as well that serve IPA Draft Beer which is a plus poinnt for me.
Would recommend to if you would like to...
Read moreA nice idea, but the execution is not fantastic. We had several starters, including a salt and pepper tofu that was quite nice, albeit simple, and homemade kimchi which was probably the highlight of the night.
For our mains, we split ramen and wok noodles, both with fried chicken. The fried chicken was very good, Crispy and almost dumpling-like, bursting with flavor when you bite in.
However, the rest of both dishes, while not bad, were uninspired. The broth for the ramen was quite weak and without much flavor, and perhaps could have cooked with the chicken for a while longer. The wok noodles had great texture, but lacked almost any flavor, and the vegetables on top didn't add much.
The beer selection was nice, especially for Barcelona where you don't see large collections that often
All in all, fine if you have a hankering for noodles, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Nothing bad, it just...
Read moreAfter being recommended multiple times I decided to head there with my partner for our anniversary. Disgraceful. The food was absolutely abysmal. They should be ashamed. I don't know if it's the poor quality of Asian food in Barcelona but this was shockingly bad. Cannot understand why people rave about it... Maybe it was a bad day?? The baos buns were horribly dry and old, clearly not made in house, if they were, shame on you. Contained a tiny slither of pork belly with hoi sin sauce straight out of the cold jar!! Followed by the 'pork ribs' sitting in a pool of dirty dishwater these were disgraceful. Also ordered the coconut salmon which contained only a bite-sized overcooked piece on white rice with a 'cucumber salad', ribboned cucumber, no sauce, no dressing. The only decent thing was the kimchi. I sent everything back and refused to pay. The woman didn't even fight it, she knew how pathetic it was....
