Restaurant Port Vell — Restaurant in Barcelona

This place helpfully has photos of their dishes in front of the restaurant, which my wife and I wanted to study before sitting down. Unfortunately, there was an annoying man in front of the restaurant who wouldn't stop talking and singing, trying to convince us how fresh the food is. We walked away and later came back and sat down to order. Our paella had just a bit of squid in it, and our dish of fried squid tasted like there were only the tiniest bits of squid buried under fried breading. At the end of the meal, the manager came out to take our payment and said "If you would like to give some happiness, could you please leave a tip please, just to give some happiness." It's the only restaurant, in four days of eating in Barcelona, that pressured us to leave a tip, and yet the food was the most disappointing. Tips are not customary here. I will avoid any restaurant in the future that pressures...

Awful experience - DO NOT GO! We were approached by a man from the restaurant whilst walking by. He was very insistant. The prices looked decent so we went in. The staff was rude and disrespectful. I ordered garlic gambas which was brought in a scolding hot dish. I was not told the dish was hot. I touched the dish to move it to a more convenient spot and severely burnt my finger. When I told the waiter he should inform customers the dishes are hot and that I had burnt myself, he was condescending, disrespectful and dismissive telling me there's "nothing else " he could do (despite failing to do the bare minimum of informing customers of risks). This is one of my worst restaurant experiences and I will never return again. I now have a blister on my finger where I burnt myself. I don't know how a restaurant like this can stay in business when the staff is this disagreeable...

Note, this restaurant is run by Indians, not by Spanish people. We went in this "restaurant", because of the varied menu offered, as my girlfriend doesn't eat fish. Couse the low temperatures in February, we decided to sit inside, near the windows. After ordering, the staff started doing some work on the wiring of the TV, right next to our table, tearing cables from the wall and making noise and dust .. I asked them if it was really necessary at that moment and we moved to another table, to underline, with dirty tablecloth. We ordered Paella and Entrocote with fries and salad. The paella was ok but the entrcote was a sole. They have been clever to hide the underside since they have half charred it.
