Having read previous reviews we made the effort to go to this restaurant while changing trains in Barcelona. We were welcomed on arrival and everything appeared good. However I ordered chicken and chips and my husband paella to be told that the chicken was not good and that fish (much more expensive) was a better option. So I accepted the waitresses recommendation and ordered fish and my husband was told that Paella would take 30 minutes preparation as it needed to be cooked fresh which he accepted. We then asked for drinks (a beer and some sangria) and also a jug of tap water. The waitress insisted that tap water was not available implying that we would have to pay for bottled water instead which we refused. When the food arrived my fish was nothing to compare with that given to local customers (they had a whole fish whist I was given dried fillets in a strange sauce) whilst my husband's paella was provided as a warmed up and slightly burnt offering rather than the fresh dish than that promised. To compound the waitresses dishonesty when we challenged the fact that all the local diners were given jugs of tap water we were told that they had been charged for that - which was contradicted by all the locals that we consulted. To sum up our experience we would advise that if you are a tourist rather than a local then stay clear of this establishment and do not believe the obviously...
Read moreWe ate at Triki Trac multiple times during our stay in Barcelona. It's THAT good! The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff is very attentive and friendly. And obviously, the chef(s) know what they're doing. For breakfast I recommend the various sandwiches (tortilla de patatas on pan con tomate) is my favorite. The freshly squeezed orange juice is always a must (plus you wanna get your Vit C after consuming all that delicious coffee)! For lunches, we loved the Tuna tartar and the Quinoa, Avocado, Tomato tartar is also delicious. So fresh!! I also recommend the Seafood Paella. The subtle flavors and the ample amount of fresh seafood---prawns, squid and clam--was perfect and HUGE! The rice cooked to perfection! Do NOT miss the mushroom ravioli dish served in a creamy, but light, truffle sauce. Just the right amount of truffle and the most delicate, flavorful ravioli: a mouth-watering umami adventure! On one of the cooler days there, we really enjoyed the braised pork (pork cheeks). What a DELICACY! A rich, slow braise full of flavor and the most tender texture! And lastly, DESSERT! The homemade desserts we tried were divine! The cheesecake was the perfect texture and the carrot cake was a nice balance of creamy, rich frosting and cake. Overall, this place gets ALL the stars and then some! I am still craving all the things on the menu I didn't get to try! NEXT TIME! Thank you, to all at...
Read moreGreat late-night spot with excellent food and atmosphere
Visited Triki Trac and had a really enjoyable meal. The standout dishes for me were the patatas bravas which were perfectly crispy with a rich sauce, the pappardelle cream pasta which was I ndulgent and full of flavour, and the entrecote steak, cooked beautifully and very satisfying.
The rest of the tapas and mains were solid too, with a good variety on the menu. Drinks were refreshing (especially the sangria and cocktails), and desserts like the crema catalana rounded off the meal nicely.
The ambience was lively yet relaxed, making it a great place to spend the evening, and the fact that it’s open late makes it a perfect spot for a late dinner in Barcelona.
Would happily return to try more...
