XIAOJUANCUN Buffet BBQ 小眷村 — Restaurant in Barcelona

I went to have lunch here with a friend. It is located behind the University at Plaza Universitat so it is quite easy to find. The place is cozy and has a cool interior designed with neon lights. It look small from the outside but there are more tables at the end of the corridor and seems like they also have “private” room, i’ve seen it with people eating inside (it has glass wall) while we were waiting for our order.

There is a corner where you can get all the sauce and condiments you need, normal soy sauce, bbq sauce, garlic, chili powder, etc etc.

Tablets are provided for each table which makes placing your order very easy and convenient.

My advice is to skip the appetizers and order the main dish right away which in this case, “Meats”. They have chicken, pork, beef and lamb. It is not shown in the pictures i uploaded but aside from ordering lamb and pork, we ordered lots of beef. They also have variety of mushrooms if you are vegetarian.

Modern place, new and well equipped. No reservation was needed, we dropped in directly at opening hour, but note place is popular as we saw people queueing outside waiting for a table to become available from around 8.30-9pm on a weekday of low season. Even fully packed by guests service continued smoothly, big team of staff, all worked fast. Menu and style of bbq is Korean yes (who cares what ethnicity runs the place, I am Swedish and would love to run such myself in my place :) Buffet eat as much as you want yes (order in batches of 5 items each time). I went with my family to have lunch. It was our first time trying korean bbq. The menu is quite extensive and they have many dishes, both Korean and for the barbecue.

The truth is that we had high expectations and it didn't turn out as we expected. For example, the bibimbap, the sauce was nothing like the original and had a strange taste. The meat, when cooked on the barbecue, actually ended up having all the same flavor. The service was very attentive and quite fast. The barbecues were very slow, though. We spent more time waiting for the food to cook than actually eating.
