Updated: the response by the restaurant is not accurate - they never asked once for us to change it that is a lie and untrue. We have been coming to Benalmadena for over 20 years and things happen but don’t lie when you deliver a bad service and then accuse the customer of lieing.
We all have a bad night but last night was very poorly handled.
This is the second time visiting in the last 2 weeks both times the electric has cut off which must be horrendous for the chef to cook in and us unable to order some menu items.
Last night however was very badly handled. After a long wait for our food we received our starters which were fine and then our mains arrived before the starters had been finished. Not a major issue considering the circumstances.
Our mains arrived a 600g ribeye and lamb chops.
The lamb chops were fine, no issue. The Ribeye was ordered medium, but arrived well done. We could not get anyone’s attention early enough to send it back although after the long wait I don’t think that would have been a good option either. After 20 minutes or so trying to make the most of it and not wanting to complain as I’m sure the chef was up against it, the gentleman who i assume is in charge came over to the table and said ‘ I know’ referencing the face that it was way over cooked and that he didn’t want to kill his chef tonight, I totally agree with this and working in conditions like this must be horrible.
What I don’t agree with is the fact they knowingly let something that was way over cooked leave the kitchen and make it’s way to my table and then pretty much hide out the way for us to do anything about it. The kick in the teeth is then delivered when they came over and explained they knew it was over cooked 30 minutes later.
We appreciate things happen but my advice would be to handle yourself a properly and own up to mistakes and at least attempt to rectify them and not just leave a customer with a terrible experience.
We were offered a free desert but after waiting for 20 minutes we decided to just pay the bill and leave.

It took ages to take our order, we opted for the Rosado wine which came out about 20 minutes before our order was taken. We were told, "I'll get you Ice for the bottle" but we had to remind the waiter before that finally arrived. He took our order and we chose the Tee Bone Steak for two people which was priced at €59.00 About 5 minutes later, he came back, to tell us they hadn't got any Tee Bone Steaks and we would need to order something else (even though we had gone there specifically for a Tee Bone as that's our favourite steak and we had now started drinking the Rosado wine so we were now committed) We ended up choosing the fillet steak which was priced at €69.00 and I asked if we could have that for the same price as the Tee Bone as it wasn't our fault that they had run out of, or hadn't got a Tee Bone steak even though they were clearly on the menu and it was only 20.00 hours. I was told , "no unfortunately not" and I would have to pay the extra €10.00 for a steak that wasn't our preferred choice! Ok no problems, we ordered the fillet steak and asked for it to be cooked "medium to well done" but when it came out it looked absolutely fine until I cut it in half and it was raw with blood dripping from it. I called the waiter over and asked it could be cooked a bit longer as we didn't want blood in the meat? He took it away on the board it was presented to us on with the Himalayan salt and it was brought back on a plate without the salt and I had to ask for salt to be replaced. The steak now was much better and cooked more to our liking but still had blood in the middle. I have to say that the steak tasted absolutely delicious but the service was absolutely awful. We visited Malbec Wine Bar hoping for a good meal, but it was an incredibly disappointing experience from start to finish. We ordered steak, which turned out to be tough and poorly cooked — definitely not worth the high price tag. The service was even worse. The staff completely ignored us for most of the night. Our empty cups and plates sat on the table long after we were finished, and it felt like we had to beg for any attention.
The only time the staff showed any urgency was when it came to bringing the bill. Until then, they spent most of the time chatting among themselves and seemed completely uninterested in actually serving customers. It genuinely felt like they didn’t want us there.
Given how bad everything was — the food, the service, and the attitude — I have no idea how this place has such good reviews. It was appalling, and the staff should be embarrassed by how they treated us. Avoid...
