I read the owner's response to my review posted last September. The owner seemed to think I should offer him advice on how to manage a restaurant. It is my belief that Google Reviews are primarily intended for the benefit of potential customers. Nevertheless the owner may consider bad experiences in reviews with which the owner can agree or otherwise; that is the business of the owner. For the meaning of my references to "Fawlty Towers", "Manuel" and "Basil", I suggest that the owner ask Irish, Scottish, Welsh or English customers or enquire next door in excellent Dec's Irish Bar. I sincerely hope that the Restaurante Laguna owner succeeded in making changes. I note that most recent reviews are generally positive. Best wishes.
Avoid Laguna which is a truly terrible restaurant in many ways. I was one of a party of 5 mature male diners last Tuesday evening who in general shared this opinion. The gents urinals were overflowing; filthy. The wine waiter made a big announcement as to his role and proceeded to outshine Manuel of Fawlty Towers. Another waiter behaved in a "Basil Fawlty" style passive aggressive manner throughout the meal. Those two guys appeared to be having a running argument. The Sole dish which two of us ordered was more comparable with cardboard than with fresh fish. There was a "song and dance" about processing payment and returning the €8.50 change due. One star is given because it is not possible to post a review against a zero star rating. I now note the "Owner" response to a review of 3 weeks ago in which he claimed that Laguna and most restaurants in the area have been busy and "a bit overwhelmed". Our group ate great "Indian" meals two evenings in the Cinnamon which the Maitre d'hotel in the Laguna told us has the same owner. Service and food in the Cinnamon...
Read morewe actually entered at a different restaurant and was told it was all the same despite it being different on google maps ... we both order paella one vegetarian one chicken with vegetable. when it comes there are 2 chicken paella which according to the waiter was vegetarian. that was sent back and a new was made vegetable only. the one i had more consistency of a very tomatoey risotto rather than a paella and tasted very strong of tomato which when was mention to the waiter he got very defensive and annoyed despite the fact there was obviously tomato's in it as well as very tomato flavour and visibly saucy which made me feel ill because the flavour of tomato was so strong and i was unable to eat my paella. the waiter was very rude about the situation saying we were given opportunity to reorder but we didn't want to and to just cancel that part of the order. we asked to speak to a manager so he stormed off and thrust a new bill at us minus the chicken paella. there was no one else in the restaurant and throughout our stay the waiter never checked back on us to see how anything was and we had to get their attention every time we wanted to...
Read moreWe ate here as a family of 3 (2 adults, 1 infant) - having looked at the menu on the marina front we decided it had the most choices for both ourselves and our little boy.
I ordered the 'Pil Pil Gamberino', which was a great starter a good serving of prawns, de-shelled, and served in a garlic, chilli and herb infused oil, with bread for dipping. I've had lots of this dish across various areas of Spain and the UK and this was up there the best.
For our main we ordered the 'Chateaubriand' we asked for this medium-rare, it was cooked as we ordered and we'll seasoned. The flavours from the meat were excellent, to the point where the sauces weren't really required. Chips are chips in my opinion, as far they go they were ok, and thick cut for steak.
Our little boy had fish fingers, which he ate all of, and given he can be fussy, is a good sign.
Cocktails were HUGE, frozen Daquire for her and a Mojito for me. The best we've had at the marina so far.
Service was fine, attentive waiter but not overbearing. However it was very quiet, we ate around 5pm, not sure how it is at busier times.
All in all a great meal out and...
