Cafe Paris — Restaurant in Benidorm

My mother and I came to Benidorm from Russia and as we didn't know the area we decided to go to the first café we found. In this case it turned out to be a success.

I ordered a latte macchiato and my mother ordered a coffee with milk, we ordered a toast of Iberian ham with cheese and tomato and another of avocado toast, salmon and poached egg and a goat cheese salad that were all a success, the preparation was just right and the ingredients were fresh. Then we ordered a piece of carrot cake to share and the same thing, a complete delight, delicious and with a sponge cake that was intense and not at all dry, as you tend to see in some places.

The atmosphere was also ideal, and the service was impeccable, in fact, we were served by a guy called Jorge, who was very friendly and attentive to us, made some jokes and when we asked him what we could visit he recommended the port and a nature trail that led to a castle.

In conclusion, the place offers what it promises, quality, a good atmosphere and...

I am just 100% not coming back. This has a really bad vibe. The lady waiting tables is just probably upset with her life and has a really bad vibe.

About the food... Was ok. Asked a coffee for a start and they served the coffee and the natural juice at the same time...

The water I suspect is tap water. Can't be unfair and say it certainly is, but has a bad taste and they brought it open to the table. Barely drank it... I chose to eat inside and they suddenly just bring me the bill without me asking it and perhaps I was going to ask something else to eat/drink?...

Like, "leave please"... if I was outside i understand. But inside?...

Just a really bad feeling that even made me waste time to vent...

Estoy sentado en el Café Paris de Benidorm. No suelo valorar más que en raras excepciones: o cuando salgo maravillado de un establecimiento o cuando me sorprenden muy negativamente y creo que las cosas se pueden hacer mejor. Esta vez es por este último caso. Hemos pedido cuatro cafés con leche y hielo y pagado la consumición en el momento de servirnos sin reparar en la cuenta. En ese momento uno del grupo ha solicitado un vaso de agua con hielo y , al traerlo , nos venía también con una cuenta de 0,50€. Al ver nuestra extrañeza, la camarera nos ha explicado que tienen que cobrar por el hielo y que ya lo habían hecho en el pedido de los cafés anterior. Conozco, por los medios de comunicación, la problemática actual por la escasez de hielo y la subida del coste de la energía, pero cobrar 25 céntimos de euro por cada piedra de hielo me parece un robo a mano armada, también llamado atraco. Llámenme mal pensado, pero en las dos ocasiones, la camarera (que no tiene ninguna culpa, bastante apurada estaba ya diciéndonoslo) se llevó las cuentas con el dinero y no las volvió a traer con las vueltas, lo que me lleva a pensar que no quieren que esto se vea mucho. 0,25€ por hielo es un abuso y, sobre todo, cuando no te avisan de antemano. Se que me podrán decir que podía no haber pagado , o haber abierto una reclamación o ... etc. , pero no es mi forma de actuar. Prefiero no armar revuelo y compartir mi experiencia con quien lea esto. Espero que algún responsable del Café Paris lea mi caso y haga lo posible para que no ocurran cosas como esta. También quería señalar que los cafés estaban excelentes pero el asunto anterior empañó totalmente este detalle. Por cierto, un pensamiento en alto: si aceptamos estas cosas, ¿ que pasará dentro de cuatro, seis u ocho meses, cuando las cosas vuelvan a su cauce ? ¿ serán los hielos, por unidades, un concepto más de la factura ? ¿ nos costará un café con 4 hielos, un euro más ? ¿ y un Gin-Tonic en copa balón...
