We went tonight Sunday 12 Jan as a table of 5 based on a recommendation from an alleged food connoisseur and we will never ever return
Foot was very poor and bland , the service was non existent
The Starters were tiny . We had a mixed starter for 11€ it was awful and the lamb was though and tasteless
Mains wow what can we say
I had a vindaloo which tasted exactly the same as my mums jalfrezi , my dad had the Balti and he said it was ok . The masala was average and the tandoori chicken was absolutely awful. It was yellow not red and was not No charred and the chicken had no flavour. The sauce was like dishwasher water .
Then They cleared the table whilst one of our party was still eating . Then she came back and tried to remove the last piece of naan from the basket and was told no leave it . It’s a pity that They didn’t table check to see if everything was ok after serving the meal
Note
The curry leafy Indian is on another level just five minutes around the corner. Yes slightly more expensive but not much but as always in life you get what you pay for
We won’t ever return to clay oven they are amateurs who...
Read moreClay Oven - an excellent India Restaurant and our favourite within Benidorm and will always come back. Would high recommend. The staff are great and service is excellent. The food is always tasty and well priced. A must visit.
We have visited this year 2023 and although I previously gave an excellent review I was speaking to my wife after our recent visit this August 2023 I would still give a high review of the food that was served - well that is apart from the starter to which we received no sauces for the starter.
Our main main meals were excellent but overall the customer service was very poor compared to our previous visits - customer service to some might be less important and at times annoying but they did not even come to us and ask how is your meal, are you enjoying, is there anything else we can do for you etc as they have done in previous occasions. No customer interaction at all.
On this occasion we were slightly disappointed and have even gone as far as to say The Clay Oven has gone done in our expectations, which is sad to admit as we loved this establishment until our recent visit. 6/10 this...
Read moreFirst time we have eaten at the restaurant during our stay in Benidorm. We were seated immediatley on our arrival. Drinks order once seated. Provided with a menu.
Nickil served us during our meal, he was attentive and replenished our drinks as appropriate. No waiting, despite the restsurant being exceptionally busy with covers of 10 and 16 people in parties along with other tables of 2, 4+. All staff work very hard to serve you well, keep you happy.
We ordered poppadom starters with relishes, all freshly prepared. For mains we ordered Chicken tikka Dopiaza, Chicken tikka madras, boiled rice an pilau rice, 2 tandoori rotis.
All food was fresh, delicious, came piping hot with fancy candle heaters to keep food warm. I found the fresh lemongrass and corriander on the madras a welcomed burst of fresh flavour.
We had 3 kingfisher beers 2 koppaberg large cans included, the final bill was less than €50.
I had read the reviews prior to coming. All I can say is try it for yourself. If you fancy a good curry then here is the place to go when in Benidorm you will not be...
