A Hidden Gem Despite Its Quirks – 4/5 Stars
Ducado in Benidorm surprised us in the best possible way. Nestled in the heart of the English neighborhood where pulsing music fills the streets, this restaurant doesn't make the greatest first impression. The exterior and location might make you hesitate, and stepping inside won't immediately change your mind – the décor feels more casual family diner than upscale establishment, reminiscent of a Maine lobster shack rather than fine dining. But don't let any of this deter you.
The food is genuinely excellent. Every dish we tried was beautifully prepared and delicious – absolutely no complaints on that front. The kitchen clearly knows what they're doing, and the quality speaks for itself.
However, the service was inconsistent, earning about a 6/10 from us. Our welcome was warm and promising, but as dinner progressed, attentiveness faded noticeably. Our wine glasses sat empty most of the evening, with the waiter only refilling them once. Most frustratingly, requesting the bill felt like ordering another course – it arrived slower than our main dishes had.
Despite the average ambiance and service hiccups, Ducado delivers where it truly matters: outstanding food. If you can overlook the boisterous location and unpretentious décor, you'll discover a restaurant worth visiting for the...
Read moreWe a mixed group of various ages went to Ducado on Wednesday 6th August . Each and everyone of us were extremely disappointed. The staff took a drink order and left one person out . We had to ask for them to be included as when the drinks were brought out there were only 9. The food was very underwhelming , very over priced for what was presented to us . None of us enjoyed the food , and all of us certainly do not mind paying for good food . Prawns were nearly 20 euros served with nothing else . The scampi was not even a decent mouthful . The staff never came to ask if everything was ok or did we need more drinks . One had lamb … there was no meat just what looked like a pile of bones . The bill was nearly 400 euros and 4 of us left hungry needing to get food from...
Read moreMe and my dad ate here whilst on holiday. It was our last night so thought we would go somewhere fancy for dinner. We ordered the pork belly slices to share, he ordered the steak and I had the vegetable paella. My dad asked for the steak to be medium rare, and when they brought the steak out, it had been barely cooked and was on the rarer side. My dad does not enjoy rare steak as he does not like the texture so I said I’d swap with him, my chicken in my paella for the steak he had as I like my steak rare. Back home today and my dad has been throwing up, can’t stay off the toilet. And I am the same. Getting unbearable cramps and just feel total rubbish today. Not sure what food it was but not impressed by this...
