Veracruz Supermarket — Local services in Benidorm

I don't tend to write many reviews but hearing about a friends poor experience here I couldn't believe it as it brought back painful memories of my own while shopping here back in December. I reported an appalling incident where my husband and I were accused of shop lifting . We were paying for a tube of Pringles at the till when an assistant grabbed our bag ,at first we thought she was being helpful and going to pack it then she proceeded to empty out the contents and accused us of stealing a packet of chocolate donuts which were at the bottom. I was so shocked and taken aback by this. No one should be touching our personal belongings and certainly no right to accuse us of stealing. We demanded to see the manager .A woman claiming to be the manager jumped off the next till ,her actions were so unprofessional and rude ,she proceeded to call the police. Our bag consisted of souvenirs ,purse, scarf and of course the donuts we purchased earlier at a supermarket and never ate.

The police came and we spoke outside explaining our version of events and expressing our anger .The manager said she had to check CCTV cameras. This took about 15-20 mins and by this time I was in tears as everyone was looking at us. Eventually we were told we could go, no explanation ,no apology quite indifferent to what just happened. I now believe this happens on a regular basis. Whether it be a holiday maker ,ex pat or a local resident no one deserves to be treated like this. If the staff are so paranoid and mistrusting of their customers then perhaps they don't...

Go in this supermarket regularly but one very rude member of staff ,she is not on tills but stands by door & needs training in customer service as very rude & arrogant ,I went in today to buy suntan spray ,she tried to take my bag off me which had my money keys & phone, then snatched the suntan spray off me as I went to get one more item. Coming out I picked the sun spray up she come straight over & snatched it out of my hand giving me a completely different one she didn't like it when I told her no apology or nothing. Came to Benidorm for first time and this supermarket has a rude member of staff ,she came over to myself, husband and brother and sister in law and asks if we are Spanish or English. Upon telling her we are English we were asked to take our bags and place them in a locker?! If I'd have said we're Spanish would have been the same rule!? Totally uncalled for! Then we were in the indoor mark and my brother In law had his wallet stolen! We will not attempt to go in either establishments again.
