La Cantina Sagrada — Restaurant in Benijófar

We visited this restaurant for the first time, and unfortunately, our experience was very unpleasant. We ordered the starter “assiette mix,” which clearly stated that it was a mix of various cheeses, hams, and other ingredients. The waitress served the dish, and we didn’t pay attention because the croquettes had cheese, ham, and other ingredients that could easily be perceived as a mix. We had never eaten at this restaurant before, so we didn’t know what kind of mix they serve. Such situations can happen — it could have escaped both the waitress and us that something was not right.

About 15 minutes later, the waiter informed us that “we weren’t eating what we were supposed to,” because a mistake had occurred. We explained that we didn’t know what was wrong, because the menu clearly stated “mix,” and the presentation of starters can vary in every restaurant.

Eventually, the correct starters were brought to us, but the behavior of the waitress was completely unacceptable — she was visibly irritated and shouted that we should have said earlier that the dishes were wrong. We could have calmly paid for everything, but the way we were treated was unprofessional and absolutely out of place.

The worst was the owner’s behavior. At first, she said we had to pay an extra €4 for the croquette, which was completely unjustified and not our fault. When she saw our displeasure — and the way she explained it to us, as if we couldn’t read — she suddenly changed her mind and said we didn’t have to pay. This is not about money, but about the lack of respect and professionalism!!

After this situation, we gave up on further dishes, paid, and left. We will not return to this restaurant, and as people running a large platform in Spain, we will advise our clients against this place. The waitress should be trained in professional customer service, because shouting and blaming guests for staff mistakes is absolutely...

We stopped off here one evening on the off chance as couldn’t decide what to have for a meal and we are so glad we did.

We ate from the evening set menu for 24.50 pp but wow it was worth it - what a gastronomical treat we had

The service was excellent and just at the right pace, we were asked between each course if we wanted to wait and each course is cooked fresh

The steak with Choron sauce was perfect and the sauce to die for along with a side salad and chips which were done to perfection

Absolutely outstanding! The food was nothing short of magnificent, and the 5-course menu offered exceptional value for money. Every dish was beautifully prepared, with exquisite presentation that showed real attention to detail.
