I recently visited Perita with high expectations, but unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing due to the poor service and a significant issue with the food.
The problem started when we were served a plate of shrimp, which, upon closer inspection, still had the intestines intact. Concerned about the potential health risks associated with consuming shrimp intestines, I politely mentioned this to our waiter. To my surprise, instead of addressing the issue with understanding and professionalism, the waiter was dismissive and downright rude. His lack of comprehension and refusal to acknowledge our concerns made the situation even more frustrating.
For those who may not be aware, eating shrimp without removing the intestine, also known as the "vein," can pose certain health risks. The shrimp's intestine contains waste material, including sand and potential toxins that the shrimp ingests in its natural environment. While cooking generally kills bacteria, consuming the intestine might still expose you to unwanted grit and contaminants. In some cases, this can lead to digestive discomfort or, worse, food poisoning if harmful bacteria are present.
It's unfortunate that such a basic standard of food preparation was overlooked at Perita, and the poor service only added to the disappointment. Given the potential health risks and the unprofessional behavior of the staff, I cannot recommend this establishment. Buen trato y atención por parte del camarero, buena calidad del marisco y precios razonables.
Debo comentar como negativo que hemos pedido en un principio (por recomendación del propio camarero) media docena de gambas de Huelva junto con media docena de gambas rojas y una ración de cuatro carabineros (todo perfecto) y al repetir parte de este pedido hemos solicitado otra ración de carabineros y otra media de gambas de Huelva, cobrándonos en la cuenta 2 medias raciones (11+11=22€) en lugar de una ración completa que serían 19€.
Puede que sea el proceder habitual pero habría sido un buen detalle cobrar como una ración completa las dos medias raciones ya que, al fin y al cabo, suman el mismo número de unidades de gambas.
Al final en una cuenta de 100€ en la que dos personas hemos ido a picar unas gambas y unos carabineros, 3€ no van a ninguna parte y el detalle puede dar un plus a la experiencia de consumición o, como en este caso, restar, sobre todo de cara a futuras visitas o comentarios como éste.
En cualquier caso se agradece tener en Bilbao un local para picar de improviso algo de marisco, a mí personalmente que me gusta bastante, me parece...
