The ambiance and interior decoration was mind blowing. We could almost not believe the prices of the food in comparison. Food wise, many options and also plant based / vegan options (with protein).
Also the staff was very friendly and welcoming.
However, when the food arrived, we were disappointed. The vegan balls starter was deep fried and the inside did not have much substance or taste. We were expecting protein alternative meat for this dish.
Further, we ordered a grilled vegetable main, but there were not a lot of grilled vegetables to be found on the plate, except from aubergine. However, the vegan chicken and sauce was quite good.
All in all, a great experience for very affordable prices (12-15 eur for a main dish), but there is a lot of ground to win in the food department!
Still, overall we definitely recommend Margerita for a good value for money dining out experience!
P.S. The soy cappuccino was exceptional...
Read moreWe ate at this place this evening and I felt it important that we leave a review to help other people who are considering this place for dinner. The vibe is really nice and all of the staff were super helpful and friendly.
We ordered 2 Fritz drinks, the grilled chicken burger with egg and one of the market food plates (I went for the marinated tofu as protein, stir fried potatoes and butter beans). Total was €33.60.
The portions were very underwhelming. The burger came with 7 chips. I had 3 halves of small potatoes with a very small dollop of vegan mayo on each one. The food was pleasant and it’s always great to have a vegan/veggie protein source available on a menu. However, I wouldn’t return back there again. I think there’s a lot of other great food spots around the city that would warrant a trip over this spot. It’s a shame as I’ve heard great things about the restaurant...
Read morePretty terrible experience. We came in one night and the place was freezing cold. We had made a reservation so we decided to stay. The place looks quite nice at first glance but if you pay attention seats are pretty dirty and threadbare. I ordered a Mexican no pollo burger. It arrived 2 min after the order, which to me means that it was sitting around already pre-cooked in the kitchen. The burger was the size of a Pintxo with no more than 30g of vegan meat and almost nothing else in it. It was accompanied by an ok green salad and cold roast potatoes. My partner ordered a different burger and it was cold, too. If you are vegan, Bilbao is not an easy place to be but there are better options. I would recommend you skip this and go to the bar “La Muga” in the casco viejo. It’s got several nice dishes for vegans and vegetarians,...
