The Iglesia de San Vicente Mártir de Abando, commonly known as the Church of San Vicente, is a notable example of 16th-century Basque Gothic architecture. Situated adjacent to the Jardines de Albia, this historic church has been a significant landmark in the city for centuries. Architectural Highlights Constructed primarily from ashlar and masonry, the church features a hall church design, characterized by a spacious and open interior. The exterior showcases a Renaissance-style façade with a triumphal arch, reflecting the architectural transition of its time. Inside, visitors can admire five gilded wooden altarpieces adorned with high-quality sculptures, including a prominent main altarpiece. The church's construction began in 1556, replacing an earlier structure that served the former parish of Abando before its incorporation into Bilbao. It stands as one of the finest examples of columnar churches in the Basque Country, reflecting the region's rich architectural heritage. Visiting Information Masses are held on weekdays at 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM, on Saturdays at 6:00 PM, and on Sundays and holidays at 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM,...

The smallest churches can be the most beautiful. I always like to visit churches and cathedrals when I travel and this one stunned me with it's beauty. Also saw a day later when we sat in a nearby cafe a marriage happening here. Definetly worth a visit.
