The interior of the restaurant is very spacious and the décor is sophisticated and luxurious. There are also many private rooms available for business meetings. On sunny days, you can also dine in the outdoor seating area. The staff was very professional and helpful. We ordered 2 sharing entrees and 2 main courses. Croquetas de nuestros bueyes were very flavorful and creamy and Steak tartar mar y montaña was innovative, combining beef and red tuna, so you could have two meats at the same time. Solomillo de vacas gallegas was very tender and juicy, and you can taste the meat as it is without over-seasoning. Lomo de bacalao al pil-pil was very fresh and the sauce was very smooth. We hope that next time we have a chance to try their special Chuletones with more than 4 people, as the portion is very big and basically starts at a kilo, so we could not order it with only 2 people. However, the quality and taste of the dishes we ordered today were very good. In the end, we paid about 118 EUR, including drinks and Tarta de queso casera.

If I could give this restaurant 6 Stars I would! The service was very good indeed and that set the scene for the rest of the evening for me! We decided to share a T-bone which was priced at €68/Kg, but based on the cut we got 1.1 Kg of meat which worked out at €74.80. We were shown the steak raw beforehand (it had some lovely marbling to it) and by this point I had already began salivating! It came cut and cooked very rare, so we could then cook it more based on how we like our steak (see pictures). The meat was flavoursome and melt in the mouth, the best I've ever had....so far! The sweet red peppers were lovely and the fried potatoes crunchy and moist inside...both accompanied the mammoth steak well. For dessert I went for the roasted mango, biscuit and meringue with yogurt ice cream. This dessert finished the meal off very well. The mango wasn't roasted though, more like out of a tin lol. So, if you love steak, wanna splash a bit more cash and you're in Bilbao you'll love this place! ;D

The food and especially the meat is incredibly good, the wine assortment good and the atmosphere also nice, BUT the service was so unwelcoming and not empathetic at all. You can make online reservations from two people on and so I made one for two but as I wanted to eat on my own I called if that is ok with them. The friendly lady at the phone said totally fine. When I arrived they denied my table. Than told me they offer only steak from 1 kg upward on. After I agreed that I want to order a 700 days dry aged steak they told me they only have a 1.300 Gramm one left. The waiter rarely came by. I had to refill my wine myself, had to ask for my check 4 times, the English knowledge of the staff was less than basic and I felt that the restaurant took more care of the meat than on me as a foreign guest. The same experience had my table neighbors which formed a nice “alliance” and we had a good evening and way to long as we had to wait for everything. If you are a group and you are fluent in Spanish this restaurant may be a good choice. For me it was not offering a good experience and price for value ratio.

Considering it’s ranked 16th of the World’s 101 best steak restaurants in 2024, we had high expectations before coming here. And indeed, we had a delightful experience dining for lunch. Interior was spacious, bright, and airy. While overall service could be improved. Most staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and polite, but a couple needing more training perhaps. As for food, the oxen meat was divine. Among the five varieties available that day, we decided to go with the 1.3kg of buey frison cruzado. It is just plain difficult to describe the taste in words given the exquisite and distinct flavour profile. Suffice to say the taste will have to linger in our memories for now. Best paired with inhouse tinto/ copa amaren. In hindsight we could have altogether skipped the hot appetisers and the inhouse bread (we were a group of two people trying to finish devouring the steak). Overall, this was definitely worth burning a hole in our pockets!

Excelente asador en el centro de Bilbao; no es barato, pero por la calidad del producto y el servicio hacen que la experiencia merezc la pena. Nosotros empezamos con los Lingotes de Foie; sabor buenisimo, te lo podias comer casi sin untar pero venia con mermelada, manzana y pan tostado que convinaban a la perfección. En segundo lugar, probamos la ensalda de tomate; el queso, la cecina y el tomate muy buenos y aliñados con un aceite suavecito que les daba un toque genial. Despues el plato que mas me sorprendio y uno de mis favoritos, las alcachofas rellenas; de textura estaban bien y el relleno estaba muy rico, las recomiendo. Como último entrante, las croquetas de buey que me gustaron ya que no son las típicas, tienen mucho sabor a carne, son cremosas y algo picantes; aunque lo mejor la salsa barbacoa casera que las acompaña. La chuleta muy top; cuando te toman la comanda te explican las diferentes piezas de vacas o bueyes que tienen disponibles para ese dia y una vez la eliges te enseñan la pieza que han seleccionado para el número de comensales que la hayas pedido. Despues, te la sacan con patatas, pimientos y una pequeña brasa. La verdad que el sabor de la carne es espectacular ninguna pega; ademas las patatas fritas estan muy buenas y son un acompañante perfecto. Destacar tambien el pan, de masa madre y con algo de mateca de vaca y buey. Para acabar la tarta de queso me parecio de 10; suavecita, super cremosa en el interior (practicante como un yogurt) y acompñada de galleta oreo y mermelada que le daba un toque buenisimo. Los demas postres quizas me decepcionaron un poco teniendo en cuenta todo lo demas; la espuma de coco y el interior de ls bola de chocolate no tenian tanto sabor y la combinación del postre de mango no me llamo mucho la atención (aunque para gustos colores). En cualquier caso, los helados que venian con estos postres muy ricos, sobretodo el de platano. El local es amplio y aunque estaba lleno, tienes mucho espacio y se esta comodo; ademad la decoración hace que sea bastante acogedor. El servicio del personal idóneo; fueron muy amables y en todo momento estuvimos bien atendidos. Me gustaría hacer mención especisl a David, uno de los camareros que nos atendió; super major, nos dio un trato execelte y nos recomendo muy bien. Con gente asi da gusto! En resumen, si te gusta la carne de los mejores restaurantes de la zona de Bilbao, volveremos.

We had a fantastic time for our dinner at Restaurante Amaren. Staff was very welcoming and tried their best explaining to us the meats in English as we’re not great spanish speakers 🤫. For starters, we had the grilled artichokes, perfectly grilled and seasoned. The meat was exceptional, and I find it great and convenient they give you a tiny “barbecue”, so that you’re able to keep the meat warm, and cook it a bit longer according to your taste. Finally, I had the tiramisú Amaren for dessert which was very plentiful and one (if not the) of the best tiramisú I’ve had in my life. I strongly recommend if you appreciate a nice piece of meat.
