Bodega San Basilio — Restaurant in Córdoba

This place is beyond expectation. It made such an impression that came for both lunch and dinner & repeated ordering the artichoke dish that reminded my friend of his grandmother’s cooking. Had I spoke a bit of Spanish I would have asked the restaurant if they organise cooking classes for foreigners. Portions are generous and all dishes deliver gourmet quality. Personally I would say the Asadillos de pimientos and Salmorejo were my 2 favorite dishes. My friend picked the Alchachofas a la montillana and Rabo de toro as his favorites. It would be interesting to see whether the restaurant would bake its own bread in the future to complete...

Vorrei tanto poter condividere la mia esperienza riguardo il pranzo, ma purtroppo oggi (domenica) non ci è stato concesso di mangiare... Mi spiego meglio:arrivati sul posto poco prima dell'una (su Maps gli orari erano indicate le 13:00 come orario di apertura) restiamo ad aspettare sotto il sole cocente, vedendo più persone (camerieri e il titolare) fare avanti e indietro dall'ingresso. Presi dal calore eccessivo chiedo a quello che pensiamo sia appunto il titolare se il locale fosse aperto o meno per pranzo, ci viene risposto che avrebbero aperto alle 13:30, saluto dicendo che saremmo tornati dopo. Facciamo un giro fino a Porta di Siviglia, ritorniamo poco dopo le 13:30, troviamo il locale aperto e alcuni avventori entrano... Entriamo e non appena chiediamo (sempre alla stessa persona di prima) un tavolo per 2 ci viene detto che è tutto prenotato! Faccio le mie rimostranze e mi viene risposto in maniera poco simpatica che io "avevo solo chiesto l'orario" mica avevamo detto che avremmo voluto pranzare lì... Ho ringraziato e girato i tacchi perché con gente del genere non vale la pena discutere, ci spiace solo che questa sia stata l'unica nota stonata in terra iberica, il signore in questione forse dovrebbe capire che di sicuro se una persona aspetta più di mezz'ora sotto il sole davanti il tuo locale e ti chiede a che ora si potrà pranzare forse vuole proprio mangiare lì, in ogni modo c'è sempre una maniera garbata di rispondere al cliente... A mai più! Pranzato in locale poco più in là siamo stati trattati di tutto punto, come normalmente dovrebbe fare chi gestisce una...

We had just arrived in Cordoba and there was a bit of to/fro with our planned accommodation, however that turned out very well and we were allocated an apartment just down the street from this gorgeous local bar eatery. Dashed in for a late late lunch and ordered much needed tapas of jamon iberico, manchego and a salad to eat and a lovely cold beer and a white wine. Service was terrific, atmosphere was authentic and we had to use what little Spanish we had to make our needs understood. Loved it and the decor...
