We stayed in Cordoba for 5 days, and this was hands down the best restaurant we found. My only regret is that we found this restaurant at the end of our stay rather than at the beginning, as I would have definitely returned. We went off season, and had no trouble getting a table without a reservation. If I am back in Cordoba during the tourist season, I am making a reservation for this restaurant when I book my plane tickets.
Yes, the prices are a little high for the area, but a superb dinner for two, with appetizers, entree, and wine, was only €77.
Ambiance was great, as was the service, but you cannot eat either of those. Let’s talk about the food.
We had two starters, the spinach, pomegranate, onion and Parmesan salad, and the Chick Pea consommé. Both were excellent. Simply prepared with high quality ingredients, not a single spinach leaf was less than perfect.
Lamb Tagine and Beef Entrecôte with Roquefort. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender, with wonderful spicing. Not too overwhelming, just a great complement to the meat. The beef was cooked rare, in that way you rarely see. A perfect sear on the outside, beautiful rare on the inside. The Roquefort sauce was a generous portion, and obviously fresh. Cheese sauces don’t age well, this one certainly did not have that problem.
They seem only to have a house wine, but the one chosen is quite nice.
Ignore the few reviews of this restaurant where people say the food is nothing special. Those reviewers are...
Read moreVery disappointed. I wanted to go there because it seemed good and the dining room looked beautiful, it is indeed beautiful but my partner and I weren’t offered to sit in the nice dining room. Instead we were in a quiet white room where I will gladly admit the chairs were very comfortable but the atmosphere wasn’t lively at all (I do appreciate a quiet place but this was just depressing).
My partner and I were given different menus (mine didn’t show any tapas) and not offered to order drinks until after we’d ordered food, and even then we asked to see a drinks menu but apparently there’s none so you pretty much have to guess what you want to drink.
There’s a weird tapas tasting menu which makes people end up with the same tapas each, which seems really different from the sharing mentality of tapas. None of us were offered the actual tapas menu (which we only found out about once we had left the restaurant), clearly the intention was to make us spit out money and go. We went for individual meals, and they were good, that’s why my rating isn’t one star only. Also one of our waiters was really nice, I really appreciated at least one person smiling at us in this depressing place.
Overall I didn’t have a good time there, but it does seem in line with most places in Córdoba which are just here to make quick money out of the...
Read moreAlmudaina is a beautiful traditional restaurant with a truly charming atmosphere. The food is exceptional—not only in taste but also in presentation. We began with a cod salad that was delicately prepared; the fish was soft and tender, dressed in a light, refreshing sauce that didn’t overpower the natural flavors. For the main course, we had the Iberian pork and the veal in wine sauce—both were outstanding. The veal, in particular, was melt-in-your-mouth tender and cooked precisely as requested. Dessert was an orange pie topped with chocolate, which was rich and flavorful, though a little on the sweet side for my preference.
Portion sizes at Almudaina are very generous—sometimes even bordering on excessive—so sharing is a smart choice. The service was fast, friendly, and attentive throughout the meal, with every staff member contributing to a seamless dining experience. Huge compliments to the entire team—your excellent work doesn’t go unnoticed, and I truly hope...
