Socaire Snack Bar — Restaurant in Ciutadella

First day we went there the service was good and friendly staff. Ordered a tuna salad and received a bowl of iceberg lettuce with some boiled egg and literally a few flakes of tuna. I showed the waiter and he nodded straight away and bought me out some more tuna. This was fine although I felt that they were trying it on to serve minimal food for top prices. Today we went back and ordered garlic prawns and 2 types of calamari. The prawns still had all poo tracks in and the calamari was clearly from a frozen supermarket Iceland type place! Surely you would expect decent seafood next to the sea! Kids had a simple cheese and ham toasted sandwich and it arrived with bread hardly toasted on the outside and fry ham and fry cheese inside! Chips were limp and cold too! In summary I’m would say they have nice waiting staff but the chef has lost interest completely in producing quality cooked and presented food! Whe I tried to explain to the “nice” waiter he showed his true colours and said I should have gone to another restaurant rather than taking my comments back to the kitchen! Expensive cheap food so take 5mins extra walk from the beach past this place and go to one of the other very good...

Visited today for lunch having had just drinks there a couple of days ago. My wife and I opted to share a pizza and a plate of fries with a drink each ( wine and beer), as in other restaurants we have dined at on holiday a shared pizza for lunch has been sufficient. When the pizza was served I thought they had made a mistake and given us a child's portion it was that small. It was also very bland in taste although the description on the menu said it was spicy. Food is lovely, service is good. If you want to feel like you've visited the gutters of hygiene, this is the best place for you. It's a race against the flies as you battle for your food! The owners must have rotting flesh hidden under the tiles as you will have a side of flies with your food. Pizza, with flies as toppings. Sandwiches, with a fly salad. Your beer, will have a head, but it consists of drowning flies. Absolutely disgusting, which is a shame considering the food is very nice and the staff are lovely.
