A Hidden Gem in Girona – Hakuk Gastrobar
Hakuk Gastrobar is a true hidden gem in Girona, led by the talented young chef Hugo. What makes this place stand out is not just the food but the passion and dedication that shine through in every dish. Hugo frequently changes the menu, allowing guests to experience something new and exciting with each visit. His love for food is evident—not only in the flavors but also in the way he personally presents the dishes, explaining every detail with enthusiasm.
For the more adventurous diners, Hugo is happy to suggest dishes that push the boundaries a little, always with a perfect balance of creativity and respect for the ingredients. He works with fresh, local products, enhancing each element rather than overpowering it. His talent for combining flavors is remarkable, creating dishes that are both refined and deeply satisfying without unnecessary complexity.
While there are higher-rated restaurants in Girona, many of them seem to focus too much on trying to impress, sometimes losing sight of the essence of good food. In contrast, Hakuk offers an experience that feels genuine, thoughtful, and full of heart. Honestly, this place deserves a spot in the Michelin Guide—it’s on par with, if not better than, some of the recognized restaurants in the area.
Beyond the outstanding cuisine, one of the best parts of Hakuk is that it’s pet-friendly, making it an even more welcoming and enjoyable spot. This was our second time dining here, and the food was just as exceptional as the first. They also offer a well-priced menu of the day, which includes a starter, main course, and dessert—a fantastic option for those looking for a full experience at a great value.
If you’re a food enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates a well-crafted meal, Hakuk is a must-visit. Highly...
Read moreMy husband and I were travelling in northern Spain in our camper van a few months ago and stopped for lunch in Girona… we found this incredible place by chance using google maps… as a trained cook myself I usually do most of the cooking while we are on tour but occasionally we treat ourselves when we see something really interesting… there is no written menu here as they shop daily in the local market and then create unique recipes with the fresh ingredients they have purchased. We arrived around 2pm and were seated at one of the few tables (it is small and secluded) and then the manager/waiter explained what was on the menu that day…. We chose different starters (I had a rich veloute broccoli soup with pancetta and my husband a chilled peach gazpacho soup) both served in styled crockery to suit the dish and both absolutely delicious! We both chose a local sausage for main .. beautifully presented and again incredible flavours. I finished with homemade carrot cake and my husband chose a chocolate brownie with fresh raspberry and a fruit coulis… again served in a stylistic way and unbelievably good! We were travelling for over 50 days in May and June ‘22 and this lunch experience was one of our favourite highlights … we were introduced to the chef afterwards who came out from the kitchen into the small restaurant to greet the guests. It felt like we had visited someone’s home kitchen … truly amazing … and did I mention the price? Only 16.50 Euros each including a glass of house wine! Thank you to this talented duo for creating such a special place! Authentic, creative, unpretentious and totally unique! Some of the best food I have ever...
Read moreES. 👍🏻 ENG. We decided to visit this restaurant for lunch on my birthday, based on reviews on Google Maps. We ordered a la Carta menu. The food was very tasty, we ordered a salad with peaches, tomatoes and Italian cheese for me and pasta with veal for my husband for start. The main course were veal from the Girona region and baked cod - everything was very, very tasty. The dessert - brownie and carrot cake. It was also delicious and unusual, especially the carrot cake. The waiter served us white wine from the region, which was excellent. We felt the creative approach of the team. We were pleased with the bill, since we paid more for such quality. We plan to visit this restaurant more than once. 👍🏻 RU. Решили посетить этот ресторан на ланч в мой день рождения, ориентировались на отзывы в Google Maps. Заказывали комплексное меню (menú a la carta).
