Casa Cundaro apartments is perfectly located in the old town. Reception is in nearby Hotel Historic. We arrived 2h early and were treated with an early checkin to our delight. Super-friendly staff. The old jewish premises offer a wonderfully secluded terrace and the 9 flats on 2 floors breath the air of ancient history. We had a family room with 4 beds, balcony, and a large bathroom. Appliances are a bit outdated, but it does not impair the perfect feel of living in an historic monument. We only stayed a single night, yet I could have easily stayed a few days more. Beds are comfortable and air condition consists of two ventilators, but we managed a warm night by leaving the balcony doors ajar. You might be woken by the church bells that chime in the quarter-hours until late and from morning. But that is part of the whole experience, i think. Highly recommended for a reasonable price (€132/night). If you prefer a breakfasr room, opt for Hotel Historic.

It’s a nice place to stay but has some challenges. Car parking - nearest place is Plaça Josep Ferrater i Móra, it’s free but is often full. It’s a 5 minute walk from there; cobblestones so not easy to wheel luggage. Check in - you check in at one hotel (historic) and then walk to casa cundaro; there is no reception at Casa Cundaro Keys - you have to keep the outside door locked, one key to get in and out. So if you are in a group, you can’t leave without coordinating, hard to describe but it made things difficult.

I stayed at Casa Cundaro with my parents and sister and wanted to cry of happiness. The place is incredible. It’s located a 1-2 minute walk from the cathedral. In the Jewish quarter, amongst all the old alleyways and steps. Perfect location to everything! Beautiful outdoor courtyard. Big windows. The room was clean. Beds comfortable. A couple flights of stairs but totally worth it! You’ll feel like a local.

We found this place extremely charming, but you should know what to expect. Casa Cundaro is located literally in the center of the Old Town/Jewish Quarter of Girona, meaning that in order to get to it, you must trek through several old streets and up winding alleys. To that end, parking is more difficult and if you have many bags, this may be an issue. I would recommend trying to park at "Aparcamiento de la rotonda del Pont de Pedret" or, if possible, at "Carrer de la Muralla, 9 Parking", though you are more likely to have success with the former (the latter parking being associated with the university, so students and faculty park there and it seemed largely packed at all times). Both options are likely to take 10+ minutes of walking through winding streets. Perhaps park, check-in, find the room, then go get your bags once oriented. This is not a negative at all, this is simply to give context as to what to expect.||As for the Casa Cundaro itself, it was very interesting. It is located mere steps from the impressive Cathedral of Girona, and only a very short walk from the old town shopping district. In 2 minutes you can be walking the walls, in 2 minutes touring the cathedral and in 5 minutes, you can go get something to eat and shop. There was a brief rain-shower that ended right before we went up to the walls, and it was magical to see the city from the walls. If you are familiar with the game Elden Ring, that is one of the closest analogues I have to describing the atmosphere of the walls (though no enemies attacking :) )||Casa Cundaro itself does not have reception, as it is a separate building from it's "parent" Hotel Historic right up the alleyways. Therefore, in order to check in, one must first visit Hotel Historic to retrieve the keys. When we visited, we were greeted in a very friendly manner, and then taken up the street to the Casa with a small tour and let into the Casa Cundaro building. During your stay, you will be issued some metal keys to unlock various gates, doors and such, and expected to lock/unlock things on your own during your stay (at the end of your stay, you can simply check out by dropping the keys into a metal box at the Casa without needing to go back to the Hotel Historic).||It's a fascinating building. Being at least 3 stories, it appears to have been either one massive house, or possibly individual residences on each floor, which were then converted /split up into smaller apartments/rooms. It's very historic and has a lot of charm. Our particular apartment was on the first floor above the street, right on the corner wedge overlooking a junction, and consisted of a large bedroom and then a converted kitchen turned into a bathroom. In other words, our room was likely originally the living room/kitchen of a much larger residence, I assume. The original tiles and stonework was present, and the kitchen had a fireplace no longer in service (nor would it be useful). The kitchen was rather large, with a double sink, counters and cabinets, but as it was no longer a kitchen, per se, it was sort of a funny "really large bathroom", with a toilet on one wall and on the other side of the kitchen a standalone shower stall. The kitchen also had a door way out to a very large semi-private veranda overlooking part of the city and also a small plaza below with orange trees. Wisteria vines were very fragrant and pleasant, growing on the old walls, and it lend it all a very delightful experience.||All and all, very charming and would recommend, but be aware of the unusual nature of the remodeling and your location. Be aware that because of the age of the district and the age of the building, it could sometimes be noisy. Once or twice in the night, other guests coming up the stairs could easily be heard having animated conversations through the room door, and occasionally out in the alleyways a large and loud dog could be heard barking somewhere very close. Other reviews mentioned the cathedral bells ringing at various times of the night: this was in fact the case, but at least with our location it was muffled and barely noticeable with the doors closed. If it were a warmer time of year and our doors were open, we perhaps may have noticed it more, it is hard to say. However, these aspects of noise come with the territory of the location, so I by no means blame the Casa for this. Also, as it was a little colder this time of year (april), there were ample radiators around the room which warmed it up sufficiently, but if you tend to be on the cold side yourself, keep an eye on that. ||I fully recommend Casa Cundaro, it has a real old-town charm and lets you experience the city in a really neat way. The host and his father were very accommodating and it appears they are really putting long-term effort into making it even more charming. If I find myself in Girona again, I won't...

We stayed here for 1 night in August.||||Pluses:||1. Gorgeous heritage building||2. Excellent location near Cathedral, walking distance to everything||3. Cleans and secure||4. A/C||5. Free, fast wifi||6. Very kind owners/managers||7.Nice price point for the beauty and location||||Minuses:||1. The Cathedral bells toll about 200+ times, at several times in the early morning, and are very loud.||2. Despite what this page says, there is no refrigerator in the units (at least, there wasn't in ours)||3. If such things matter to you, there is no elevator, and the entire Jewish Quarter is pure stairs.||4. There's no reception, so to check in, etc., you must go up the street to Historic Hotel||5. If you book through their site, the confirmation page is very misleading; it says you've paid in full. However, this is not true, and you must pay when you arrive. It's confusing, and should be updated with the proper terms- this is a reputable hotel, and those kinds of practices are done by shady hotels, so it's not a good look.||||overall,...

Super location in the heart of the old town. The staff we dealt with were a credit to the business. We had room 104; large and with a genuine traditional feel. Decent breakfast. They were happy to look after our bags for the day, since our onward journey was later in the day. So why a poor score? One minor gripe was a lack of soap/shampoo, unusual for this grade of hotel. However, much more fundamental was the Cathedral bells tolling all night. I cannot understand the reasoning behind the authorities allowing that cacophony ALL NIGHT. It seemed our room was next door to the bell tower, and we did not get any sleep at all. Closing the window and wearing earplugs didn't make any difference, and I don't consider myself a light sleeper. That counts as a fundamental failure of this hotel to provide it's main function. Not only can I not recommend this hotel, I would not recommend ANY hotel in the old town area. A shame, since the problem could be...
