Federal Cafe — Restaurant in Girona

First of all, the context: 1st of january, 10 degrees outside and 10:30 am. The interior of the cafe looks very nice and welcoming. Unfortunately the staff is definitely not as welcoming as the cafe is. One of the women said 4 times that the people can also have breakfast at home. And she said it very loud. I am asking myself if she wants to have a job at all? The one guy that was working there, definitely had a very rough night. He started very rude and unfriendly, got better during our stay and waiting time, but ended up being very very confused. We could definitely feel the struggle. He forgot one of our drinks and didn’t give the food order correctly into the kitchen. Which is sad, because that way we wasted food that couldn’t be eaten. And I don’t think that suits your philosophy. The cafe has 2 floors, which are very clean btw, but we could only see them while going to the toilet, because they just didn’t open the second floor which has the most seating capacity. They basically said „no, the second floor wasn’t open for the public today.“ which means that there were only 5 tables downstairs in the interior available. They had 3 people in service for 5 tables inside and 6 outside. With not wanting to open the second floor, they made us wait for 30 minutes and even asked us why we don’t sit down outside, where there was one heater in the middle of 6 tables. And also had the guts to ask us if we are cold. One girl was at least doing her job probably and was nice to the people. That‘s definitely not how to run and keep a business open and profitable. The food is nice, good prices and good quality. Overall i wouldn’t come back to this one...

The food coming out of the kitchen looked delicious which really irritated me as the" Reuben" sandwich they served me was the worst I have ever eaten . Certainly no American , much less a New Yorker would recognize it as such. Served on some kind dry toast , cheese unmelted, a couple of slices of " pastrami" and some sweet red cbbage....a slathering of Thousand Island dressing would have helped... anything to help slick it up a bit .....of lord. even now it's sitting like a rock in my guts.....added insult , cold " hand cut fries" ... My wife however, liked her pumpkin curry. I guess that's something... What a shame. My first meal of the New year....Hopefully not a harbinger of things to come!! As a plus , the staff is friendly and I guess I had bad luck....Still ... Advice to kitchen:. Don't serve a sandwich you don't know how to make... and charge nearly 10...
