Hannigan & Sons Irish Pub — Restaurant in Granada

I usually love this place, but last night i had a terrible experience. Me and few friends got to the pub before opening because we knew it would be crazy for the game, and we wanted good seats. by the time the game started it was packed, which i understand can be very stressful for staff. Right before the game started i wanted to go smoke. the security guard was dealing with two rowdy guests so i walked by him as it was packed near the door. As i turned around the get my stamp, the security guard must not have seen me because he started being extremely loud to me and telling me to wait outside. I tried explaining to him that i had been inside the whole time he just didnt see me walk passed him before he stamped me. i didnt have my jacket or purse becuase they were inside on my seat. i had a receipt on my phone proving i had bought food an hour earlier inside. he would not let me talk more than 2 words in english or spanish. he yelled at me so loudly and close to my face he brought me to tears. the people outside waiting even tried telling him that he was mistaken but he kept making extremely rude remarks to me, eventually he physically pushed me outside. Very few times in my life have i ever felt so embarrassed and harassed by a staff worker anywhere. eventually another bar tender came outside to smoke and i tried to explain to her what had happened and she told me, as i was still shaken up, i was being too dramatic and that i should wait outside with everyone else and that the security guard should kick me out for being so upset. I really love this bar but last night was one of the most ridiculous things ive ever had to deal with as a patron. I again understand these world cup games are extremely insane with the amount of people and im sure everyone working there is under incredible stress, but that does not mean you treat human...

Unfortunately I entered this bar. If you want drunk, rude and aggressive bar staff then this is the place. Me, my wife and her friend were shocked at the behaviour of a member of staff who clearly has no people skills when drunk and I doubt he has them when sober. If you want someone to be rude to you and your wife go here... If you want money snatched from your hand go here... I reported this at the time to the quiz master (who I thought might be the manager) who seemed to take things seriously but still in the background this ‘barman’ was laughing. Previous to this I witnessed 2 drunk men misbehaving but were not dealt with by bar staff (the quiz master had to deal with them). The barman obviously felt me and two girls were an easier target. Rude barman towards my American clients and towards myself; discriminating and insulting, being an immigrant (Irish) in Spain himself, which makes it even more ironic. I filled out a Complaint Form and have informed the police of Granada.

I was insulted and discriminated in one minute - that is why I left -. I know 2 other employees who are great. That’s why I was shocked. My clients saw my face and the hotel and asked what happened, and immediately knew who the barman was because he also treated them rudely the previous day.
