Great service, large portions and good value for the money. They had a very extensive menu of classic Spanish tapas, and meat dishes but I found the seafood to be limited. We got olives and meat with salsa on the house as we arrived, the meat was well-cooked and nicely seasoned. I had the sopa castellana, a type of tomato soup with ham, garlic and egg, the broth was a bit too oily. From the tapas that we ordered my favorites were the fried eggs with pepper and foie, and fried artichokes with black honey. The batter on artichoke wasn't too thick, and it hadn't soaked up too much oil so that was the highlight of the dinner for me. We also tried the scrambled eggs with mushrooms and the salmon with orange sauce, both if which were fine.
To pair with the dinner I asked for a local, dry white wine and the waiter suggested an Albarino from O Fillo da Condesa, which went really well with the fried tapas. Overall, La Botilleria is a nice place to try out different tapas, with great service and a...
Read moreI strongly suspect that they treat foreign customers differently. The portion of tapas served to us was significantly smaller than the local customers, and there were no chips. This is the conclusion we have drawn after comparing the two tables of local customers next to us. When I questioned them, the reply that other customers were paying extra to add chips to their free tapas was unbelievable if you've been in Spain for a while. And when you order a meal, it comes with a bunch of chips, so there's no need to spend extra to add chips to the free tapas. In addition, the seasoning level of the main dish recommended by the waiter is very poor. The lamb shank and oxtail are very dry, and the inside of the lamb shank has no taste. The recommended dishes are all like this, let alone other dishes. The waiter looked indifferent and seemed to owe him money. A restaurant full of bad service and food that I will definitely not be...
