Mordisquitos Cafe — Restaurant in Granadilla de Abona

I took upon myself the daunting task of testing and ranking all ice cream shops in El Médano, because, why not? The ranking is based on the golden standard of ice cream: the pistachio flavour (obviously) . Mordisquitos comes to a strong first with its naturally flavoured, creamy and not overly sweet pistachio ice cream. The unsweetened (and vegan) piña y coco flavour was also excellent. The ice cream in this shop is so good that they don't need to be open every day (they're shut Tues/Weds).

Are you dying ti know who got 2nd place? The gelateria in placa roja offers a reliable pistachio flavour (also try their fig flavor, it's super good and unusual)

3rd place goes to "Ice dreams", high quality, creamy ice cream. The cheesecake flavour will make you sing "new york new york" and the dark chocolate will cure any chocolate cravings for at least a month. Sadly though, no pistachio flavour on offer. Currently negotiating with the owner to include it in the offering. Taking a selfie with the ice cream on a vespa whilst you wait for your turn is...

I came here because of all the great looking photos and reviews, hoping to try some of the nice ice cream flavors. Dec 12 2022, it looked much different from earlier photos. They had much fewer and mostly simple flavors (11), handwritten on papers stuck to the wall. It didn't look like they had any of the vegan options at all. No frappes on the menu anymore. Big "don't touch" on the ice cream area and not a single picture of anything anymore. The flavors didn't even match the waffle selections. Can get a pistachio waffle with "icecream of choice", but they don't have pistachio ice cream anymore. You need a smartphone to see what they're selling. I don't know if this was due to renovating or a new concept, but if the latter, then it's a different store now that doesn't match with their social media and previous hype. At the very least, anything of this extent should be communicated to...

Somehow the place made a huge downgrade I think. The ice cream was still good quality and tasty, everything else was a bit off. Earlier pictures looked nice and there were a lot of flavours. Now it had fewer options and didn’t look as nice. The staff was very busy with orders and didn’t look at us the first minutes we were there. We had to sit outside until our number was said through a window. When I came to the window she said: “RECEIPT.” I showed her the receipt, she said “okay”, gave the ice cream and quickly closed the window.
