My wife and I have visited this restaurant several times which has a wow factor due to it's location..... but have never come away impressed with the food. We've gone back hoping to get the experience we hope for but last night was the last time we will visit. The staff gave the impression of not caring due to having to wait for drinks when we first arrived, even when we ordered wine when our first coarse arrived we didn't get it until after we finished our first coarse! We ordered a fish Paella to share which again we waited a long time (I know when cooked fresh it takes a while) and when it arrived it was burnt on the bottom so we had to send it back and wait again for a freshly cooked Paella. As previously mentioned the staff didn't seem to care and I would not recommend it.

We arrived at 18.10 and the restaurant was not busy which does not explain why we waited a long time for our drinks and did not get the wine we ordered until after we finished our first coarse. Whilst the second Paella was as expected the whole experience took away our pleasure especially as the staff did not show any concern that the first Paella was burnt just confirmed with us that we wanted a fresh non burnt one! Also when the first Paella was delivered we were not given a plate for the shells or a cloth to wipe our hands which meant I had to leave the shells...

Avoid, avoid, avoid.

I’ve been here three times over the past three years (always between Christmas and new years). The first time I swore I’d never go again after terrible service, the second time we were stuck with no reservation and had no choice but it was fantastic.

Today was the third time and never again. Service was shocking. The mains landed out and they didn’t even clear the starters so we had to pile them up and move them to another table. All the sides were forgotten. The kids food came out way too fast with the chips half cooked. Had to send the kids to find salt and pepper, etc.

When I mentioned the sides missing when paying the bill they just shrugged. I’d say the view of the sea and the location guarantees so many customers that they couldn’t care less.

Additionally, the bathrooms were disgusting. The sink didn’t even work in the men’s.

I’ve been to El Médano 5 times for two week stints each time, eating out at least once a day and this has to be the worst place I’ve...

Apart from the view of the sea and the mountain, there was really nothing right during the whole experience. After ordering a margarita and getting something that could hardly be considered a coctail, we were already quite alarmed. None of the seafood seemed fresh and massive loads of garlic were added to each seafood dish as if to hide the lack of freshness. The squids had a strange-tasting, paste-like texture on the inside so we decided not to finish them so we wouldn't feel sick. Even the Padron peppers seemed quite old and weren't nearly as good as in other restaurants in the area. The service was overall quite bad, apart from the horrific margarita, we had to remind the waiters twice before they brought us glasses for water and the entire staff seemed very confused and disorganized. Would not recommend, there are far better options...

Lets start with the positive: the local white wine was excellent, the mojo-sauces with the warm entry bread were among the best I had on the canaries, the service was good and the grilled pulpo very nice. The gambas with garlic would have been 5star as well, had it not been for the disappointingly charred garlic. Speaking of disappointments: in a nearly 5star rated restaurant I expect my fish-soup not to be a green puree that a) I can eat with my fork and b) tastes like grain. I also would have hoped that my fried fish plate consisted of more than whatever veggies and octopus were leftover in the deep frier. The decor and lighting of the interior are up for debate but if you catch one of the tables by the railings of the balcony you can let your gaze escape over the bay instead.

The place has great location- right above the water. The terrace is nice. The waiter is friendly and nice. The lemonade is fresh and good, but the food...unfortunately needs alot of improvement. The salad was big and good. The fried chupitos were very very oily, bigger size than they're supposed to be and they're prepared in some strange way with bad quality potatoes and vegetables. The pardon peppers were not the best, but not bad and the main course had a nice concept and sounded delicious to us (fish, shrimps and mussels in tomato sauce) but unfortunately it had a strange smell, so we didn't eat much of it.

As a family of 4 we had a wonderful meal at Brisas del Médano! We ordered the seafood, chicken, and prawn paella, and it was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked, not too dry or too soupy, just right until the very last bite. Even the kids were super happy with their spaghetti with mussels and tomato, which they devoured in no time. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended if you’re in El Médano!
