We‘ve been here for dinner this week. First of all: the location is nice and the food was very good, the kitchen did a very good job. Our evening was kind of ruined by the service, though. We did not really feel welcome here. When we entered, a young waitress offered us a nice table. It was obvious that we are tourists and don’t speak any good Spanish. As soon as we sat down, we were asked what we would like to drink. We said we didn’t know yet and needed more time. We were looked at continuously from this point on by several waiters, until we ordered a bottle of water to maybe somehow ease the situation. The restaurant was rather empty. For food, we said we don’t know yet and continued to use google translate to somehow figure out what to eat. We noticed that the several waiters looking at us were aware of our struggle, somehow nobody offered to assist/help us. They rather seemed to enjoy that we were struggling using our phones. We then ordered 1 starter (gambas y pulpo al ajillo) and proceeded to go to the fresh fish counter to choose our starter. We both like gambas, prawn, pulpo, sepia etc. so we ordered this as a main course as well. Only now one of the waiters suddenly started to speak English, finally assisting us in choosing. Still, he seemed rather amused that we were so lost in choosing and translating the menu and dishes, which made us feel really bad. We don’t understand why e.g. this waiter did not come forward to us in the first place and assist us, when he obviously noticed that we were struggling from the very beginning. Nonetheless, we thanked him and enjoyed good food. Our plates were taken hectically off the table as soon as we finished our last bite. In the end, I believe we were charged double (2x14€ = 28€) for the starter. It was 6 gambas and 6-8 thin slices of octopus, similar to the picture attached. Overall, we left with a bad feeling and were sad about what could have been a nice evening with just some more welcoming and friendly attitude.

Wow! I loved having dinner at Bahia 😍 this is a wonderful restaurant located in Los Abrigos, en Tenerife island. This spot is simple and relaxing, and it has a beautiful view over the sea. The staff is super kind, they help you in the choice and suggest some plates if you don’t know what to choose. The service is fast, and everything is perfect. The food has an amazing taste, and everything is fresh, the fish in particular! There are also vegetarian and vegan options, in fact I took the papas arrugadas con mojos and a tropical salad. The quantities are excellent! Also the atmosphere is very relaxing, and if you go at sunset time you can enjoy a wonderful view over the sea, enchanted by amazing colors. Super suggested!

Feedback on Our Dining Experience with You – Friday, 5.30pm 7th February 2025

Dear Restaurante Bahía Los Abrigos Team,

I hope this message finds you and the team well. We wanted to take a moment to express our appreciation for the freshness of the food and the wonderful sea views during our visit on Friday, 7th February. The Octopus Salad was particularly enjoyable, and the paella was creamy and delicious.

Additionally, we were pleased with the friendly and polite service from the female waiting staff. In particular, the taller young waitress with dark hair and glasses was attentive and made us feel welcome.

That said, we wanted to share some constructive feedback about one aspect of our experience that we felt could be improved. We believe this is something you would appreciate knowing directly.

Unfortunately, our interaction with the male waiter (who appeared to be in his mid-40s) left a negative impression. His approach felt brusque, impatient, and unwelcoming, which took away from what should have been a warm and enjoyable dining experience. His body language and tone of voice made us feel more like an inconvenience than valued guests.

From the moment we arrived, his greeting was minimal, and when we politely attempted to confirm our reservation in Spanish, he offered little engagement or hospitality. When guiding us to our table, he simply pointed to the QR code for the menu without much interaction. Throughout our meal, we sensed that he was eager to move things along quickly rather than ensuring we were comfortable and enjoying our time.

As a result, we didn’t feel encouraged to stay longer for dessert or additional drinks, which we likely would have ordered if the service had felt more welcoming.

We completely understand that working in hospitality can be demanding, and everyone has difficult days. However, we noticed that other reviews have mentioned a similar issue with a male waiter, which leads us to believe this may be an ongoing concern. We mention this not as a complaint but in the hope that some gentle feedback or guidance could help improve the guest experience moving forward.

We did briefly mention our experience to one of the female waitresses, who immediately apologised, which we really appreciated. This kind of warm and professional response is what makes a difference in customer satisfaction.

We hope you take this feedback in the constructive spirit in which it is intended. Your restaurant has so much to offer, and we would love to return in the future under better circumstances.

The two stars for service and atmosphere reflect the way the way the male waiter interacted with us. As mentioned the female waitresses were friendly and helpful.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and please feel free to reach out here if you’d like to discuss this further.

Kind regards,

Jay and Judy

Edit: We very much appreciate the kind response from the owner/manager, it means a...
