We’ve stayed on Tenerife the last 4 years, two months each time, renting a house a few kilometers up the hill from Alcala. Last night was our first night at Cofradia El Mirador, where we got a takeout paella for two (which we reserved the day before) plus a slice of quesillo for dessert. I’m sorry we didn’t find this wonderful restaurant before this, but now that we know how good and special it is, we’ll return many times. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, and the food was excellent! We love paella, and this is the best paella we’ve had on Tenerife and other islands in the Canaries we’ve been to. And, even though we got takeout, they left the paella in its large round cooking pan, just asking that we return the pan in the next few days sometime. What a kind trust in humanity! Thank you! This preserved the crusty rice we all love to scrape off the bottom of the dish, and there was lots of seafood, the perfect amount of garlic and red sweet pepper, perfectly cooked al dente rice, and delicious, balanced flavors in every bite. Read moreIt was absolutely phenomenal! From the warm bread with butter on the side that they welcome you with that keeps coming throughout the meal to the amazing quality and preparation of the fish and all of the seafood. We had the garlic prawns which were absolutely amazing, bonus for the sauce which is excellent to dip your bread into, the octopus salad had some of the best prepared octopus we’ve ever eaten, the cuttlefish, prepared to perfection with a smoky taste from the grill and green cilantro sauce (also great for dipping) and the fried sardines which were salty, crispy and light. The service was incredibly fast and the staff were all friendly and smiling. I would definitely recommend and...
Read moreVery positive experience, all 5 times we went there (really, it was so good we didn’t want to try our luck anywhere else while staying in Alcala). The atmosphere, attention to detail, friendliness of the staff, chef’s professionalism (it’s a pleasure to watch him adding final touches to every dish served, with pure joy and love to his craft). Food is simple but super fresh and delicious, very few items on the menu, all tasting fantastic. They serve beer in frozen glasses - again, attention to detail! Better book in advance, they are very popular (though we managed to get a table 5 times out of...
