We are staying in another hotel but we were hoping to have lunch at the Oasis. We were up front with the hostess, asking if it was possible to eat there despite the fact we didn’t have a room in the hotel. Her first response was to ask if we informed reception. We explained that we had a brief conversation with reception regarding another restaurant that was unfortunately only open for dinner but that was about it and that we were having a look around to see what other options were available. The hostess then left and went to talk to one of her colleagues. She came back telling us that it was possible to eat at the Oasis but we had to go to reception and inform them. While we were asking the reason for such a process if it was already agreed that we could eat there, the hostess kept looking at our hotel bracelets. We pointed that out and the hostess said that it was from a different hotel and that they knew which one… completely unnecessary comment as by that time we had already mentioned 3 times we were not staying at the Gran Melía. We asked if they could just call reception directly as they had a phone rather than us having to walk all the way back there. She proceeded to do so but no one picked up from reception. We finally decided to put an end to this mascarade as it was pointless to stay somewhere we were not wanted. We would have understood if the hostess had simply told us the restaurant was only open for the hotel customers rather than making up some ridiculous rules about informing the hotel reception. Very poor service standards for a 5* hotel. Such a shame and a disappointment as the hotel looks beautiful and we were considering booking a room for a couple of nights later during my our stay...
Read moreCurrently staying at the Palacio de Isora in the Red Level, which is absolutely superb, so we expected Oasis to be equally as good when we had dinner there last night. We were bitterly disappointed to say the least! We were allocated a table well inside the restaurant, quite remote from the more lively part on the outer edge, and there was no atmosphere whatsoever. Maybe that was a good thing? The service itself was very average, with some staff very nice, and others simply borderline rude. Unacceptable really! Having spent a few holidays in Dubai, those staff who know little about being pleasant while serving customers could learn a thing or two from the outstanding hospitality you get there (and at the Red Level too to be fair, where breakfast staff are always nice and pleasant). As for the food, it was ok, no more. Overall a disappointing experience. If you decide to say at the Red Level, don’t expect the same standard at all at Oasis… it won’t be cheap, but it definitely won’t live up to...
Read moreThe location is beautiful with a lovely view, so expectations were high. Unfortunately, the food was a huge letdown – probably the weakest we’ve had in Tenerife.
The steak came out dry and overcooked, the fish of the day the same. Fries were limp and soggy, patatas bravas bland and poorly made, and the prawns had a strange, mealy texture. Nothing felt fresh or well-prepared.
For a meal this underwhelming, the price was shockingly high. With so many great restaurants on the island, there’s no real reason...
