If you’re dreaming of a peaceful breakfast at Calma in Ibiza, brace yourself – the only thing calm here is the service’s pace, and maybe the eggs, because they certainly aren’t cooked! I ordered eggs Benedict, expecting a brunch classic, but what arrived on my plate looked more like a science experiment gone wrong. Undercooked eggs swimming in a sea of… hollandaise. I swear they must have an entire tank of that stuff in the back, because my eggs arrived with about a liter of it. Maybe they figured if they drown the eggs in enough sauce, no one would notice they forgot to cook them?
When I kindly asked them to fix it, I was met with puzzled stares as if I’d asked them to decode the mysteries of the universe. After round two, the eggs were still undercooked, but at least I had a new personal best in hollandaise consumption. Honestly, if you’re a fan of sauces, Calma might be your spot. You’ll get enough to last a lifetime.
As for the cappuccino, well, let’s just say it was about as hot as a winter day in the Arctic. I could’ve used it as an ice pack rather than a morning pick-me-up.
For a far less chaotic brunch, head next door to Cappuccino, where they serve warm coffee and properly cooked eggs. Plus, they seem to understand that while hollandaise is great, it’s not meant to be a soup course.
Skip Calma unless you’re into the “eggs Benedict, but make it a...
Read moreI visited this restaurant on May10th, and it was a highly disappointing experience. Upon arrival, there were no staff members at the front desk. After waiting for several minutes, we decided to approach a passing waiter to inquire about seating arrangements. The waiter replied that we could sit anywhere we liked. We chose a table by the waterfront and waited for over ten minutes without a server approaching us with menus.
Later, a restaurant employee named Christian appeared and informed us that we couldn't sit at that place as we hadn't made a reservation. He insisted that we could only be seated inside the restaurant or leave. While I didn't mind sitting indoors, I found this employee's attitude to be extremely rude. He continuously asked us to leave without showing any apology for wasting our time. Despite the restaurant offering a visually appealing view, I have no intention of staying any longer in this poorly managed restaurant and letting it ruin my day. There are nearby restaurants with equally beautiful settings, and most importantly, they do not provide such...
Read moreBeautiful restaurant right on the water. They focus on seafood.
Right when we say down we were given bread and alioli. Note that it does cost a few euros per person and they don't really tell you that.
We got the grilled octopus, the seared tuna and the prawn and avocado salad. The grilled octopus didn't have as much char as we normally like but the texture and flavor was good. Seared tuna was fine but overall flavor of the fish did not standout. The salad was very refreshing but they didn't have any kind of dressing on the salad. So it needed salt or something. Ate fairly bland.
Service was a bit rude. We had questions on the menu and we were met with pretty snarky remarks, even to the person in our group who was a fluent Spanish speaker. They also have different waiters for different things. So our waiter for the wine couldn't answer any questions on the food...
