La Pulperia - Tapas Bar — Restaurant in La Oliva

Located just off the main tourist strip in Corralejo is La Pulperia. My partner had checked out Trip-Advisor for the "Top 10 places to get Tapas" in Fuertaventura and this place had come out near to the top... So, it would be true to say we went in with high expectations.

I must say, when I first examined the menu, my heart sank a little - "Pulpo" is Spanish for Octopus and La Pulperia (as I probably should have expected) leans heavily on Octopus as it's chief ingredient in the majority of its dishes. I'm not a fan of Octopus... or at least I didn't think I was...

We were a party of 4 and selecting 3 dishes each we were able to cover a pretty good cross-section of the menu. I can categorically say that this is the BEST tapas I have ever tasted and I have now added Octopus to the status of favoured foods. Highlights were their Falafel with Tzatziki, Octopus with humus, Mini Tuna Burgers, and Octopus Tacos.

La Pulperia is full of character; from the funky artwork on the walls and chilled out sounds pumping through the hi-fi to the friendly and helpful staff, everything works to produce a unique identity, that cries out: "This is Tapas, but not as you've had it before."

Probably one of the nicest and most authentic places for spanish tapas & drinks. However on 2 occasions the night was ruined by an extremely ignorant member of staff. The place is in high demand which is understandable and they let you wait by the side to order drinks and food whilst you wait. However there is a chance you’ll be served (or in most cases refused to be served) by a horribly ignorant bar tender. I spent my first night waiting for a table for nearly 2 hours and was happy to wait, but this particular bar man did his best to make sure I felt ignored and even went out of his way to tell his staff member not to give me a menu. I decided to return the next night with a friend as the food was delicious, but this time he refused to serve us after making us stand there and wait for ten minutes. He said unless you’re waiting for a table I can’t serve you. He could have easily told us straight away but instead it seemed he got joy out of making us wait to then reject us. It was also total nonsense as I watched many customers come and go from the outside part of the bar the previous night. So yeah, delicious and authentic but this can easily be ruined if this particular arrogant and rude bar...

La pulperia – A Must-Visit in the Heart of Corralejo!

If you love octopus, Pulperia is the place to be in Corralejo. They have an amazing selection of octopus dishes, each one prepared to perfection. Tender, flavorful, and truly exceptional.

Their wine list is also on point, offering a great variety to complement your meal. And if you're more into beer, they’ve got some interesting draft options worth trying. What makes it even better? They use a lot of local ingredients, making the experience even more special.

The staff? Absolutely fantastic. Super friendly, welcoming, and always ready to recommend the best dishes. You feel right at home the moment you walk in.
