Restaurante Casa Cecilia — Restaurant in La Oliva

Maybe we’re missing something but walked confused about the hype and great reviews of dinner at this restaurant.

We were served a beef steak instead of suckling pig…quite a difference! And we had to go and physically find a waiter to explain the problem as no one came to check on our food. Even when we did, he didn’t come over to our table right away - despite the restaurant not seeming busy (but maybe they were short staffed?)

Instead of being offered a replacement or it being taken off the bill entirely they just charged us for the suckling pig that we didn’t receive “because that was cheaper than the beef” - “we won’t charge you for the beef” that we didn’t order…. Very odd way to approach a mistake like this.

No wine list available - just had to ask the waiter for a suggestion, which is usually fine with us, but the selection we got wasn’t good.

Service overall was confused, rushed and felt stressed, despite the restaurant not seeming busy.

The Pork “house special” we did order was dry and inedible. Tiny pan fried pieces of pork with no seasoning. We finished meal with plates full of food and there was no acknowledgment from the waiter at all to see if we’d enjoyed it.

The Restaurant had very bright lighting in the front room where we were seated and little to no atmosphere. No music or even anyone speaking so it felt very awkward on arrival and throughout the meal.

Overall it was a strange dining experience. Such a shame as we were looking forward to trying this restaurant after...

Restaurante en una casa típica majorera con un gran trabajo de restauración situado en el casco urbano de Corralejo es un espacio acogedor y aún llevando poco tiempo, han conseguido que disfrutemos de una magnífica comida canaria tradicional con un toque y estética de vanguardia e innovadora. El personal es muy amable con trato casero y exquisito haciéndote sentir muy a gusto y por supuesto ni que decir de la profesionalidad de todos ellos. La cantidad y calidad de sus platos mereceren una mención especial así como sus precios que verdaderamente hacen de ese lugar un restaurante de elección para volver. Tras la reseña que puse en su día, he tenido la oportunidad de ir varias veces al restaurante Casa Cecilia y siempre con los mismos resultados extraordinarios de relación calidad, cantidad y precio. Siguen ofreciendo producto cercano y de temporada en platos pensados para compartir, pero tratados con un puntito de sofisticación. La carta está llena de caprichos y sugerencias que cambian continuamente para mejorar –Setas a la plancha con ajo y jamón, croquetas CASERAS de jamón ibérico, carne de cabra frita, estofado de carne de cabra al estilo majorero, carrilleras estofadas excepcionales, lingote de cochinillo asado espectacular, paleta de cabrito al horno, pulpo tanto a la gallega como a la brasa, zamburiñas, gambas al ajillo, etc– y por supuesto los exquisitos postres y aunque siguen haciendo la cocina de siempre, se permiten platos en forma de ceviches, tartares y tatakis, todas francamente disfrutables. Realmente me podía extender con los platos y su exquisiteces durante varios párrafos, porque se lo merecen, solo contaros que el otro día nos visitaron mi hijo y mi nuera durante solo cuatro días y al finalizar la visita les pregunté qué tal por Fuerteventura y me contestaron muy bien hemos estado en tu casa y la Casa Cecilia y se echaron a reir. Ah, se me olvidaba, el otro día estaba una pareja de asturianos al lado de nuestra mesa y les oí decirle al cocinero Angel "hemos estado varias veces aquí y siempre hemos comido bie, QUE BONITO TENERTE AQUI" se me quedó la frase ya que dice todo lo que yo quiero expresar. What a great place. We happened upon this place, tucked away a few streets back from the main drag. Great service and innovative, fresh menu offering something a little different from the norm. Interesting and well considered menu with quality ingredients and clearly a talented & passionate chef. Loved the date and iberico croquettes and the garlic prawns were perfect. The suckling pig has been slow cooked to perfection, was moist and delicious, served with mini potatoes and padron peppers. The octopus was also the best we’ve had on the island.
