Had a beautiful meal here just over a week ago - beef carpaccio, octopus, lobster, goat and chocolate dessert all delicious. Service was a little slow but we're aware that some restaurants are short staffed at present so made allowances. Booked again for last Tue at 18:30. While our orders were taken quickly enough, by c. 19:45 our starter still hadn't arrived, and 3 other tables of 2 who had ordered after us had been served. We couldn't get our waiter's attention so stopped another waitress and asked if there was a problem, so she said she would check. She didn't report back to us but did bring our starter at c. 19:55. She was very apologetic for the delay. When our waiter reappeared there was no mention of the delay so we just ordered two more glasses of wine as we had only been able to stretch the bottle we'd ordered so far (over an hour and a half). Our main courses arrived swiftly, and ahead of the other 3 tables, so they at least tried to rectify the situation. We ordered desserts and after dinner drinks and didn't let it spoil our evening, however we felt that our waiter or the maitre d' should have taken some accountability and apologised for such a long delay, and maybe even made a small gesture like not charging for the additional glasses of wine. It would have shown that they considered the delay/sequencing issue below the acceptable standard for a restaurant of that nature. Such a shame as we intended to book again for our last night as the food...
Read moreWent without a booking but got there quite early for my wife's birthday. Luckily we were offered a table outside, no problem. We were immediately offered a complimentary glass of rose prosecco whilst we pondered our order. We shared our starters of fried squid(calamari) and it was lightly cooked and had a good crispness to the batter with a swish of alioli to the side. The garlic prawns are a must. They were the best I have ever tasted. Finely cooked and not swimming in oil and had a garlicky caramelised crunch and sweetness like you get with sea salt.difficult to describe. Simply gorgeous. The accompanying warm softly toasted bread served well to scrape up the leftover juices. We chose an aged rioja to accompany the main meal of seafood paella. This was also very tasty and was served in a large flat pan with langostines prawns and clams with finely chopped squid pieces. The paella was priced at 20 euros per person. Minimum of two people. Overall bill with wine 88 euros. Free aperitif with the bill. Too strong for us. I would highly recommend the restaurant and look forward to ordering the...
Read moreWe have eaten at this restaurant many times in the past. To be fair the food is always good, but we were a little nervous after reading negative reviews about the service. We wanted to have a romantic table by the window for an anniversary celebration and when booking in person, they said the first day they could accommodate this was this evening.
We arrived on time but whilst the maître d’ showed us the booking with the reservation ‘window’ highlighted, he said “everyone wanted a window” and couldn’t care less about the promise made.
His cavalier attitude was despicable, and it’s sad when tourism makes people like that. We went to the nearby ‘Capichos Del Mar’, and the attitude couldn’t have been more different. The fish meal we had was one of the best in memory, but it’s the warm welcome and attentive service which makes such a difference.
So in conclusion, the earlier reviews are correct in that this is a restaurant to avoid as the management...
