We paid €55 in advance, reserving a table for the sunset in the 360 Sky Bar, fully expecting a table on the roof.
Entrance for access to the venue was actually round the back of the hotel. As soon as we walked in we were met with a huge queue, so large they were obscuring the small sign indicating a different (and non existent) queue for guests with reservations.
We smugly skipped the queue and taken up to the 26th floor where wewere then shown to our table, which we realised was actually not on the roof at all. At this point we had no idea what we spent our money on, as the confusingly similarly named "360 Rooftop Bar" seems to be first come first served. Watching the other guests' faces when they arrived, they had the exact same reaction.
Food was expensive and hit and miss, croquettes were delicious, but the patatas bravas were under cooked. Piña colada was excellent. Staff were friendly but a little inattentive.
Views at the 360 Sky Bar were obstructed by walls/pillars and small windows with the good view of the sunset being obscured by a high rise building.
We weren't charged for two of our cocktails so I presume that was part of the expensive entry, Although no explanation was ever provided.
In fact very little information was provided about anything. After exploring ourselves we did find access to the roof, which is worth a visit if you don't mind fighting your way through the horde of selfie takers. Nice views of all of Madrid though. Bar on the roof was rammed, and you can't take your drink up either.
All of which we genuinely wouldn't have minded if we knew that this was expected. Instead if felt like we were lied to, sold a fancy roof top bar, and got a dead room full of miserable customers who also felt lied to.
My advice is to just be clearer about what the customer is booking and paying for, and make the Sky Not-a-Roof Bar actually worth visiting, like some more decorations or something to give it an...
Read moreThe welcome at the bottom of the hotel is warm and welcoming, and you can see that they are professional in what they do. Getting to the terrace, the decorations are beautiful and the terrace itself has got a great view of Madrid. However, I will never be returning here again nor will I recommend it to others. It was a scorching hot day, so we tried our best to find seating in the shade which the waiters/waitresses did not bother helping us with at all, even though there were many people working! We found a table that had half shade. When we sat, the waiter told us that we couldn't move the table so that the whole table was in the shade which we respected and did not do. A few minutes later, he told us that our seats were too far away from the table and that we needed to be closer to the table. I cannot even begin to describe how we felt, we first thought it was a joke because our legs were crossed, so we were maybe 10-20cm away from the table. We didn't want to be a pain, so we scooched our chairs so that our legs were touching the table. A few minutes later, we gave our waiter our order and asked if we could go sit somewhere else. He said no but that we would first have to pay for our drinks. Not a problem. Once we found a table to go and sit at, we told the waiter if our drinks could be taken to our new table and he himself asked us to stand and took us over to our new table, without asking us to pay. After a few minutes, he came back and said that we can't sit here until we first pay. Uffff. Everything was just such a pain!! We went and paid. Sat and enjoyed the lovely view. When we wanted to order more drinks the waitress said that she has something else to do first and then will come and take our orders. We just got up and left. With waiters/waitresses at every corner of this terrace, the service was absolutely appalling. A lot more...
Read moreA friend and I went here on our last night in Madrid for a drink at the sky bar to celebrate finishing our second year at university. Once we had made it through the queue and upstairs. There was no one directing us where to go so we made our way to the bar. Once having sat there for 15-20 minutes the barman finally asked us what would like to drink. Still confused on how we were to get a table, I went to find a member of staff that wasn’t busy to ask. I had clearly said to this lady that my friend was at the bar having ordered our drinks but we would like a table and she had said for one of us to wait in a queue for a table and the other to wait with the drinks and bring it to the table once we had one. So we did exactly that. We were waiting to pay at the bar and for some glasses but it was as if we were invisible to the staff. We decided to just take our bottle of drink to the table where they could take our payment and bring us glasses as we didn’t have time to wait otherwise we were told we would loose our table! Once we had sat down we were bombarded with 4 different members of staff telling us we ‘couldn’t move our table’ and ‘we needed to pay’. We were happy to pay the lady and I had clearly said to them that we had waited in the queue to get this table. After they rudely spoke to us, one other man came over and said that it was okay. This made us feel incredibly frustrated and upset as we are two young tourists who were being blamed for their miscommunication. Other than the poor instruction on what to do within the system and treatment from the staff we did really enjoy our time. The view and drinks...
