Bar La Oliva — Restaurant in Madrid

Sat out on a sunny, winter day, but wish the food and service was better.

After waiting 30 min, I realized my coffee wasn’t coming (they have no milk substitutions, by the way). Finally able to reorder with a new server, I placed an order for coffee, then waited another 10 minutes to get a menu. Ordered avocado toast with anchovies. Pretty typical here, but it wasn’t anything to write home about. (Though I’ll share with you here!)

This spot in Olavide square is magical. It was packed when we arrived but we managed to get the best table. We had a decent pincho for 3€ - not a big portion though and the only reason why I don’t give it 5 stars - and two nice and tasty tostas (trigueros con jamón and brie con frambuesa y nueces). Service was ok, there was a guy way nicer than the other one.

Overall, it’s the perfect place for a ‘tomar...

I got intoxicated from a courgette tortilla covered in mold. Unfortunately we discovered this too late - I had already taken a couple of bites from it. The waitress was kind enough to not charge for the food. It wasn't her fault. However, the food intoxication is there and I feel obligated to write about it since serving food in such a state could prove dangerous for guests. I hope it never...
