First of all we didn't get a chance to try this restaurant because they called me on Thursday night to inform me that they were canceling my 8:30pm reservation for Saturday dinner because they wouldn't be offering any discounts on The fork reservations.
The restaurant's explanation was that it was The fork's fault for not canceling their discount, but my reservation was confirmed two weeks ago and I received emails from the restaurant the day before and the day of my reservation re-confirming the reservation.
I also contacted The fork immediately after the phone call from the restaurant on Thursday, but was unable to get any explanation from the restaurant or The fork until 6pm that Saturday, as we reconfirmed with the restaurant around 5:30pm that Saturday, and they insisted that they would not be offering any discounts, nor would they be offering any liability for The fork's discount on the reservation.
In seven attempts to contact The fork's customer service department, The fork insisted that the restaurant was responsible for all discounts and that the restaurant needed to cancel the reservation, that they never asked the restaurant to call the customer to force them to cancel the reservation, and that if the restaurant was suddenly unwilling to offer a discount, that it was entirely their responsibility, and that the restaurant was in full control of their platform. So in the end, The fork customer service canceled my reservation directly from the system, because they contacted the restaurant several times to no avail, and even the English customer service team called the restaurant at almost 6pm, only to get a male staff member who said he didn't speak English and hung up.
Obviously the restaurant must have suddenly had a lot of reservations on Saturday and felt that it was not worth it to offer a 50% discount to the customers who made the reservations, so they called me two days before the reservation and forced me to cancel my reservation because if there was a real system problem, they would have had two weeks to notify me, but they didn't.
