Cuzco - Lupita — Restaurant in Madrid

The last time we visited Cuzco Lupita was in 2014. The place had more of a canteen-feel back then. Our roast chicken dinners were delicious and the staff were warm, smile-prone, and attentive to us in spite of our rowdiness on that February evening. As we were leaving, my friend filled the tip tray- where another well-fed diner might have left a scattering of coins- with a splat of ketchup. This weekend we decided to ‘make it up’ to the staff by visiting again and being more well-mannered the second time round. The staff were kind and glad to see us. The ordering system was more of a faff this time round since the table corners are furnished with QR codes which connect to an unwieldy cyber menu that confers no discernible benefit- the restaurant having joined Cien Montaditos in yielding to the juggernaut of modernity. But the food was exceptional... The bar snacks (dried nuts) were probably the most moreish bar snacks that I've ever had and the generous portion of roast chicken was tender and crisp and the side salad was fresh and bountiful. Fuimos con mi esposo al restaurante el sábado 09/03, queriendo darles una oportunidad pero desafortunadamente la atención es siempre asi, vamos a tener que buscar otro lugar, a pesar que su comida es rica. El restaurante siempre está a tope, pero por ello no quiere decir que las mesas estén separadas por 15cm (mejor las juntan todas y hacen una sola mesa) se lo dijimos al camarero (joven y llevaba gafas) a lo que él de muy mala gana solo separó la mesa 5cm cómo diciendo no molesten y ya. Yo entiendo que deseen atender a más personas, pero no es posible que estemos apiñados, es muy incómodo!! Menos mal que nos atendió una camarera, muy amable, atenta (ese día traía peinada 2 colitas), ella hacia el esfuerzo por darse abasto para cubrir a los comensales, y es intenso. No es la primera vez, siempre ell@s están liados, apurados, corriendo de aquí y allá, esto hace que la situación de almorzar tranquilos se rompa y se vuelva incómoda. No hay atención personalizada, tú tienes que estar tratando de hacer contacto visual con ell@s para poder ordenar o pedir algo más, o de lo contrario te toca bajar o subir para pedirlo. Y eso parte desde el dueño o administrador (uno gordito que no lleva uniforme), que siempre que he ido lo veo alborotado e iniciando el caos. Los anticuchos los pedí cocción 3/4 y los llevaron muy fritos (tuve que dejar un palito xq estaba duro), el pollo a la brasa delicioso, el arroz chaufa muy rico. Luego vino un camarero y nos dejó la cuenta en la mesa sin pedirla, como insinuando a que nos vayamos ya! Y luego daba vueltas para ver si terminamos. Insisto les falta afinar la atención al cliente, contratar más personal para los fines de semana y así no estén corriendo todos, es súper incómodo! Que las mesas las coloquen de manera de poder estar cómodos y tener un poco de privacidad, y no porque tienen personas esperando van a ponernos a unos pegados a otros. Ojalá mejoren y...

Meat is very tough no matter what dish you request. I ordered Lomo saltado: rice was uneventful with little flavor, hard & over-cooked meat, but it will get a 3 out of 5. Also ordered ceviche: was a little better with good presentation 4out of 5. I also ordered leche de tigre was good 4 out of 5 and pescado a lo macho which the fish comes breaded all the way at the bottom and the sauce comes on top of that breading causing a big mess of a fish. 3 out of 5.
