Hotel Gran Via ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We’ve never done a review before but felt compelled to do this one because of the outstanding service and stay that we had at the NH Collection Grand Via Hotel Madrid.
We were fortunate to get an upgraded room that was on the seventh floor at the rear of the hotel which still had a fantastic view of the city. We barely heard any street noise being on the seventh floor. The hotel location was fantastic with gorgeous views of the city as well as being close to a number of beautiful museums and walking distance to some of the older parts of Madrid Both the hotel and the room were well appointed and beautifully decorated with a fabulous restaurant and a rooftop bar. Our room was spacious enough for both of us… bed very comfortable… modern bathroom with a great shower!! The housekeeping staff did a fantastic job of cleaning the room whenever we needed them to freshen up our room. We especially want to mention the front desk staff, and in particular Luis who made us feel so very welcome! We were bowled over by his personal attention, professionalism and good graces as well as all the other staff we interacted with!
He treated us like five star guests!.. from giving us great restaurant recommendations locally to reserving us a beautiful table at the restaurant on the eighth floor to changing our room (we decided to stay three more days so we had to change our room) so we would have a more spectacular view of the sunset from our new room!
We want to make a special mention of our Belman, Alvaro, who helped us retrieving a phone that was left in a taxi and David with some of his local recommendations both gentlemen were friendly, courteous, and quite knowledgeable of the whole area …And Maria in the business office who helped secure train tickets and recommendations to a couple day trips we took from Madrid.. and the flamenco show that she booked for us and her thoughtfulness with the tasty treat she had sent to our room! It was sad to have to say goodbye to our new friends, and we hope to see them again in the near...

Read moreWhat a great place! The rooms are a little bit small, but there is every detail you could want. The bathroom is beautiful. I had a balcony and a view facing south on the 7th floor so there was quite a bit of clearance to be able to see other buildings and the sun all day long. On the top floor, the 9th, there is an outdoor bar which is quite lovely and affords a gorgeous view of the city from a 360° angle. You just have to walk around and find your spot. It's very popular because it's one of the few rooftop bars with that type of view. The only warning is that they play a lot of dance music and so it is a little bit on the loud side; but this is to be expected but the popular hot spot and the crowd is young, fashionable, and trendy. Personally, I loved it. If you click on the last picture, I have posted a video for the vibe of the place without being intrusive to other guests. The picture will come up but you must click on it: and there is no arrow to give you the clue that this is a video. Hotel guests have priority to both the restaurant which is on the 8th floor, and the bar which is on the 9th. But to be certain, you definitely have to make a reservation for the restaurant, but this is quite common in almost all of the better restaurants in Madrid. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The daytime doorman and porter, David, is quite friendly and helpful and he speaks fluent English as his mother was British. The staff were a real joy. The hotel is centrally located on the Gran Via with all the shopping you could want, and a major subway system right outside your door. Pretty much everything is within walking distance. The Prado Museum is about a mile away and the Queen Sofia Museum is also just a few blocks more. This is a four-star hotel, so don't be hesitant to to use the staff. They are expecting it. This is a secured hotel, so you can feel safe when you come...
