43 types of tapas!!! We chose this restaurant because it got such high number of Google reviews and were not disappointed. We arrived early enough, around 5 pm, to snag one of the last outdoor tables. Later, there was a line for a table. This restaurant is located in the heart of Grand Via, next to McDonalds.

Choices ranged from the Bocaditos (various meats on bread), salads, egg patata, and seafood tapas.

We got the Tartar de atun con mango y aguacate (mango and avocado), croquetas de tres quesos a de jamon iberica de bellota (ham and cheese croquette), Costille de cero Duroc (ribs with BBQ sauce), and what looked like a grilled ham sandwhich (new dish) and plus dessert (chocolate lava cake). The Patatas finas con alioli save y sat negra were French fries with an aioli sauce with black salt. I thought there was too much of a bread for the amount of ham in the sandwich.

After we finally ordered, the food came within a reasonable time by various runners. We did not see our waitress much so it took a while before we could order dessert and a while before we could ask for the check. I felt badly for the long line of people waiting, since it was a several hour dinner due to the time it took for the waitress to come back. It was absolutely packed inside the restaurant, so likely she was busy inside.

The outside tables have a wonderful view of the main street and is perfect for people watching and enjoying the lovely architectures. We did have one or two people coming by asking for money.

Overall, we wanted to try good tapas while in Spain, and we enjoyed the experience at...

We came to this tapas restaurant in the afternoon because we wanted to enjoy some Spanish food before leaving town. The place had good reviews, so we were expecting a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, things quickly took a turn for the worse.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a woman handling the reservations. We asked if there was a table available for four, and she told us it was possible — we just had to wait a little while. She directed us to a waiting area outside, where other guests were also waiting.

It was around 30 degrees, and we were standing in the sun with only a bit of shade from a nearby tree. After some time, we noticed she began calling out names, and people who had arrived after us were being seated before us. When we approached her to ask, she said she didn’t have our name. Once we gave it, she added us to the bottom of the list, causing an even longer wait.

Eventually, we got a table, but the food turned out to be just as disappointing as the service: • The overall quality was mediocre. • The sauces didn’t match the dishes at all. • The calamari rings were soft and overly greasy. • The shrimp and shellfish didn’t taste fresh and seemed overcooked.

The only dish we somewhat enjoyed was the paella — it had good flavor. However, even that was let down by the uncleaned shrimp, which required peeling for a very small amount of meat.

Overall, a frustrating and disappointing experience. Despite the good reviews, this visit did not live up to expectations. We won’t be...

Terrible service. Slow to bring out food and drinks. We had 3 servers including the manager. Their facial expressions said it all. Few days here and Madrid and we wasted an evening here. It started off bad from the get go. I asked the waitress if we can get a take outside , she looked and said “ I’ll let you know by 11:30.” The time was 10:30pm. I asked let me know if we could be seated or just you’ll seat us at 11:30? She just stared at me with an annoyed face and said nothing. So I asked what about inside. And asked over the ear piece if they had room for 5 inside. A manager came outside and asked her who’s it for. She said them. This is where it gets down right insulting. He leaned back towards the girl and told her oh , 5 Mexicans are different than 5 Germans. I ignored it and and pretended i didn’t hear it. I could go on but , our waitress disappeared . We called her over multiple times, made eye contact, made a gesture basically saying what do you want with her face and then walked away. We had to get the attention of the same manager who made the remarks earlier that night to get anything else. Terrible experience and a lot of people here should be be working in...

Highly recommend staying as far away from Tapa Tapa Montera as possible. This was my first (and may be my last) time having tapas in Spain. Although I have not had tapas before, I know what good food and service is and Tapa Tapa Montera has neither. The patatas bravas were fine, but they somehow managed to simultaneously overcook and undercook the steak (lomo de bajo). The steak was so tough and chewy while also raw in the center. The Caesar salad (recommended by the waitress) tasted worse than prepared grocery store salads. The food was barely edible, but the service was the worst I have ever experienced. Our waitress never came by our table, had to be flagged down for every order, took our drinks menu from us before we had ordered, left when we needed more time and never came back, and did not make eye contact with us once for the duration of the meal.

Tapa tapa is a must visit tapa place if you are in Madrid. There is no other place where you can eat food this good for this price. Atmosphere is nice and the waiters are really nice. Some of them don’t speak english but they will understand you. Service was amazingly fast, although it was so busy people were waiting in the line to get in (that happens during weekends). If you sit outside you may experience some unpleasant situations with homeless people who are coming to your table to beg. Waiters do try to get them out as fast as they can but just don’t be surprised if something unpleasant happens to you, as it did to us. The food was really tasty, but I did not like my Pinchos morunos (meat could’ve been prepared better). I will come back to visit this place to try more things, and so should you! Patatas bravas is a must order.
