Apparently this is great if you’ve got gluten issues. For the rest of us…. Not so much. Service is below average. “Pan del horno” is an average stodgy bread that’ll set you back 2.50€ for a tiny basket of 5 small slices, mostly holes. The mussels were particularly egregious, they reeked of fish suggesting they were none too fresh and the white wine sauce did little to help. The ravioli was below average. The pizza was fine… although the waiter looked at me as though I was asking for her to clean my car when I requested a pizza cutter.
The check came to 95€.
2.50€ for bread? Seriously?
Thoroughly, not-recommended.
Oh, and this is the first Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to, that managed to mess up tiramisu. I assume it was decent when it was made several weeks before, because that’s what it tasted like.
EDIT: I noticed the owner responded to my review without actually addressing my criticism... Instead remarked on my tendencies in other reviews (I only write reviews when the place is remarkably good or in this case remarkably poor, hence the 1star/5star ratings, common in my reviews.) They did not however address my specific criticisms regarding service, overpriced bread, off-smelling mussels or the poor and belligerent service. This should give you a fair idea as to the manager's sense of responsibility regarding genuine issues. (also they refer to me a tu and end up with usted... a clear indication of the use of the formality as...
Read moreSo, where can i start.. as you all know this street , cava baja is always packed. Its also both full of tourists and spanish people. All restaurants are mostly fully booked so i suppose thats why they do NOT even bother anymore to give good quality food or a good service… They dont mind because they know it will be full anyways and thats very very SAD. Lets start with the unsympathic arrogant service, specially the young girl with the tattoos should be more polite and maybe try to smile a little bit…It was like if we owed her something for being there. The others where ok… We ordered a Margarita as a starter and the dough was not even done,, and the cheese if u can call it real cheese was tasteless. Think was probably 80 % water and maybe 20% cheese. If u already go wrong doing a Pizza Margarita… omg Carpaccio was not good quality meat, my spaguettis Vongole the clams where awful and had sand in them, and the pasta not a good quality one. Tasteless The only thing that was worth it and thats why i give the 2 stars where the truffle raviolis. Thats it. So, work on your service and your food, if not i do not think u will stay open too long. Even at the hotel we where staying at in cava baja, they said the restaurant was good but since more than a year it has changed, as many of their customers where not happy…but we gave it a...
Read moreNice place. We went for a farewell dinner looking for options in de la Caja Baja Street and this place has some nice reviews with mention of rude hostesses.
The rumors are true. We got in and were asked if we had a reservation (which we didn't) and were told to wait until a group lost their time slot in a reservation. We did and were walked in to notice there were lots of empty tables. I imagine it's because of reservations, but this policy is quite strange to me. We were rushed to put in our drinks order and then had to wait a lot to get the food orders. We were ready to order and when we called one of the servers she told us only the owner took the orders so we had to wait even more.
We ordered a couple pizzas and appetizers. The food was really good. The eggplant parmiggiana had that amazing robust and fiery flavor so appreciated in that plate. The pizzas were well cooked and the flavors...
