The museum is interesting but nothing exceptional compared to similar experiences. The reason for the two stars however is only due to the bad experience we had with the lady at the reception. We arrived with our two kids (3 and 5 years old) 15 minutes earlier than our booking time, entered the lobby (entrance was open), talked to the guy at the reception (he was nice) who politely explained it's very busy and we have to wait, which was fair and expected. Then the kids went to sit on the benches in the lobby, as they were tired and we joined them. 2 minutes later the reception lady came to us and basically kicked us out, kids and all, to wait in the street, as apparently their policy was to only allow visitors in the waiting area 5 minutes before the ticket time. While I can understand the policy, however kicking out 2 very small kids sitting on benches in an empty lobby and asking them to stand and wait for 8 more minutes in the street on a 1 m wide sidewalk was extremely rude. Anyway we just conformed, didn't want to further ruin our evening by arguing with that person. After kicking us out she blocked the entrance with a band and we waited, first ones in line. Soon several other people arrived behind us in line. As per regulation, 5 minutes before the ticket time all the people waiting were allowed in. However, the "nice" lady, decided to first let into the museum the spanish speaking people (all the others except us who were english speaking), despite the fact that we were the first there and the only ones with kids (2 & 5 years old). So, the kids had to wait for 10 more minutes, after all the other people went in, excellent... I'm sorry I don't know her name, but if I were the owner I would definitely...

I went to the Museo de la Luz in Madrid with my three children (5 years, 3 years, and a 3-month-old baby). From the very moment we arrived, the girl Ana was extremely rude. Before we even entered the museum, while still at the entrance, she asked me if my children “could be quiet.” Of course, my kids can behave, but they were simply excited to see a TV with lights in the lobby.

Without giving us a chance, she told me she didn’t want my children in “her museum,” insisted I should leave immediately, and offered to return my money. We had traveled from far away to visit and were treated with complete disrespect.

When I tried to film what was happening to document the situation, she became even more aggressive and told me it was “totally illegal.” Her attitude was hostile, unprofessional, and discriminatory.

This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with kids in Madrid. Families with children should absolutely avoid this place. Instead of being welcoming, it was an awful and humiliating experience.

I visited the Museo de la Luz with my partner and we loved exploring the immersive art installations, some of the rooms were so captivating we went through them twice! Miguel was super helpful, ensuring we immersed ourselves in the experience while giving us space to roam freely. The museum is on the smaller side, with lockers available for your belongings, it’s family friendly and you can comfortably explore everything in less than an hour. Ps: The visit started with a somewhat cringy, theatrical style intro about birds from a staff member that made us worry the whole hour might be like that, but thankfully, it was just that one off moment.

Let me just say WOW! The staff is so pleasant and helpful. They are just there to explain everything you might ask. The current exhibition is great and as I am told they change it every now and then. The favorite room was definitely Caleidoscopio! I felt I could be in that room forever! The peace that I felt as I watched all the objects, colors, patterns, real life underwater animals just blend to each other making a perfect fractal synergy. It was just OMG. Totally recommend!
