Ginos — Restaurant in Madrid

I had - operative word being HAD - good memories eating here in the summer of 2017. A friend and I would often come here and enjoy their cheese fondue, before digging into their gnocchi.

When I came back here recently, it seems that the quality of their food really has nosedived off a cliff. Their gnocchi were dry and the taste of blue cheese was overwhelmingly pungent - not at all like I remembered. It was an utter waste of money to dine here.

I am leaving this restaurant two stars, only because I have fond memories from the food I ate here back in the summer of 2017. But it's a pale shadow of what...

The Madrid Gino’s restaurant was closing at 5pm, I arrived at 4:20, the waitress told me that the kitchen was closed. I said not 5pm yet. Then she said if I knew what I wanted and do it quickly, so I showed her a picture. When my order came, it was cold and pasta was soggy and broken, the two big prawns were overly dried up, who knows how long has it been kept since last deep fried. Overall, the worst pasta I have ever had in Spain and I have been eating different pasta for the past 2 weeks traveling in Spain....

La comida estaba rica y no tardaron en servirla. Pero la velada se enturbió casi al entrar. Teníamos cierta prisa porque teníamos entradas para el teatro después de cenar. Al entrar nos dijeron que en 5 minutos nos sentarían. Un poco después pasó otra familia que se plantó delante porque si. Entonces otra camarera les preguntó que cuantos eran. La familia comentó entre si... "si vemos que tardan mucho en sentarnos vamos a la tagliatela, que está justo en frente". La camarera iba a acomodarles antes a ellos que a nosoteos, habiendo una mesa disponible en ése momento. Le dije educadamente que nosotras estábamos primero, y la camarera me dijo entonces "tienen reserva" lo cual era mwntira porque en ningún momento les preguntó el nombre... Y la familia entró con dudas de si quedarse o no.. Qué pena el trato de la camarera cuyo nombre empieza por F, las mentiras no van a ningún lado. Si me miente en éso... Me mentirá tambien con respecto a recomendaciones de la carta? 🤔 .

Resumen: nos sentaron 20 minutos mas tarde de nuestra llegada por no rectificar su error sin sentido al colarnos a una familia. Nos habríamos ido a otro sitio pero ya habiamos perdido mucho tiempo y teníamos que cenar antes del teatro. Menos mal que la comida estaba rica. Aunque la próxima vez iré...
