Las Columnas de Recoletos — Restaurant in Madrid

It was our first day in Sevilla and we were just trying to get the lay of the land. We walked down to the Alameda de Hercules and sat down for a little lunch. The menu is huge. So many things with no translation. We played it safe with Paella and Croquettes but also ordered a couple of things we didn’t know. They all ended up being potatoes!! We ended up with three plates of potatoes!! The food plates were loaded with food, but it was just okay. It made for a funny story, but we didn’t each too much of it. Thankfully, the prices are very reasonable, even if we ordered 14 plates too many!! Oops!

Ocho de la tarde un sábado, no había panecillos para las hamburguesas pequeñas, los "huevos con patatas" del menú infantil es un solo huevo, y si quieres que dos niños compartan pues no vale ese plato de ocho euros, tienes que coger el de catorce que lleva jamón. Además que el menú infantil eran tres platos nada más.

Tampoco había tortilla de patatas, de ningún tipo, ni Enate, uno de los tintos más comunes y uno de los tres que ofrecen en carta. Un sábado por la noche y no hay Enate.

No hay platos reseñables, las cervezas las traen ya abiertas (chicos, hay que abrir las cervezas ante el cliente).

Las patatas paja no las hacen aquí, son de bote. Tampoco las patatas normales, evidentemente serán de Findus Professional o cualquier firma de patatas para horeca.

Al gerente de la empresa: da herramientas a la gente que te está sirviendo las mesas para que, si entran cuatro niños, tengan al menos unos papeles y unos colores, es un detallazo que las grandes familias agradecemos.

A los camareros, habéis sido amables pero especificad antes de que pidamos de que los "huevoS con patatas" son un sólo huevo frito, no lo digáis después, que parece que nos...

Lovely place with a very nice brunch menu. As everywhere in Madrid the orange juice is fresh and delicious. The cakes here were great and taking leftovers home in a doggy bag no problem.
